"I am very excited about the opportunity to create a book for young readers and their families that will deepen their understanding of how our American government works," said Senator Edward M. Kennedy. "Reading is a lifelong adventure, and I hope that this book will spark an interest in young people to learn more about their government and to explore the joy of books."

My Senator and Me: A Dog's-Eye View of Washington, D.C. tells the story of Senator Kennedy and his dog, Champion Amigo's Seventh Wave (nicknamed "Splash" by his original owner) and a day in their life in the Senate...

Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my ‘miscellaneous’ ping list.

Maybe he should have had Splash at his side when he drove his car off the bridge.

A day in the life of Senator Kennedy? For children? Well, I suppose it's a new world we live in. Here's the opening paragraph.

"Every day, we need something to get us alert and ready for the day. It's very important to be alert in government. Here's how I begin my day. Children, can you say 'Chevas Regal'? I knew you could. Now, down the hatch with a full 8-ounce tumbler of the magic elixir and we're on our way."

Works for me.

I'll bet Mary Jo wishes the dog was there as well.

I got an advanced copy of Ted Kennedy's book for kids:

Goodnight moon. Goodnight car. Goodnight Star. Goodnight Mary Jo under the passenger chair. Goodnight Air. Goodnight noises from down there. Goodnight Dike House. Goodnight White House. Goodnight rippling sea. Goodnight chances for presidency. Goodnight bridge. Hello hotel mini-bar fridge. Goodnight pretty Mary Jo's face. Hello ill-fitting fake neck brace.

She and five other women, all in their 20s and unmarried, attended a party in a rented cottage with Teddy and five other men.

Considering that he is, after all, a Kennedy, it's a miracle he only took one girl to be drowned.

My Senator and Me: A Dog's-Eye View of Washington, D.C.

Nice of Ted to write a story about crawling from bar to bar with John Kerry.

Two thoughts:

1. If you don't have any friends, you can always count on a dog.

2. The fat drunk is following in the grand tradition of Stanley "Tookie" Williams.

He's trying to insulate himself from death penalty charges if he's ever convicted over Mary Jo.

"Thanks, Tookie".
