HOWARD DEAN IN ABRAMOFF CASH FIB

Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean denied on Sunday that any Democrats had taken money from lobbyist Jack Abramoff, even though several top Dems - including Sen. Hillary Clinton - have already announced they were giving their tainted Abramoff cash to charity.
That little detail didn't faze Dean, however - who insisted with a straight face to CNN's Wolf Blitzer:
"There are no Democrats who took money from Jack Abramoff, not one, not one single Democrat. Every person named in this scandal is a Republican. Every person under investigation is a Republican. Every person indicted is a Republican.
Dean continued: "This is a Republican finance scandal. There is no evidence that Jack Abramoff ever gave any Democrat any money. And we've looked through all of those FEC reports to make sure that's true."
Last week, Sen. Clinton's office announced that she would be donating $2,000 of her Abramoff jackpot to charity. The Republican National Committee says she took a total of $12,900 in Abramoff-linked cash. Other Democrats who have pledged to return tainted donations include Sens. Tim Johnson and Barbara Mikulski - as well as leading House Democrat Charles Rangel.

When I saw Harry Reid insisting that "this is a Republican scandal" I suspected that that would be the mantra.

OK - point of order - the word "fib" in this title is somewhat misleading. "Fib" is defined as a small lie, usually an unimportant one.

WHat is "Abramoff-linked" cash?. Why doesn't the story say "cash from Abramoff"?
Because it wasn't all from Abramoff... Most of it came from groups that he lobbied for because he like you and I are limited to the amount he can peersonally give via Campaign regulations. The Bush Presidential Campaign got around $100,000 which was raised by Abramoff but only some $6,000 was direct from Abramoff. They now have donated the $6,000 to charity.

I'm sorry, you can't expect FACTS to get in the way of Howard Dean making a point--which is, by the way, all Republicans are evil and all Democrats are good.

The 'Rat strategy has reached the point of the surreal. Their philosophy of twisting the facts to the vast underinformed public (thanks to the MSM)- has given way to baldfaced lying in front of clearly obvious facts.
He may be insane - but he's not that uninformed. It is an obviously supercynical strategy whereby he looks at the GOP straight in the eye and say "Yeah, I'm lying. You know it and I know it. Anybody with half a brain knows it. But we don't need any of that type anyway. Whatever you say isn't going to be listened to by our target voters- so knock yourself out trying."
'Rats will be rats. But the MSM has a decision to make. They can show that they are disgustingly partisan liars to even the most dimwitted of sentient beings - and lose any remaining credibility they have with their fast dwindling audiences - or they can make a stand and start surreptitiously inching their way back to a halfway sane position. It'll be interesting to watch.

What is Abramoff-related money?
Abramoff-related money is simply money which can be traced back to Abramoff. With a scandal this big, you don't think that Abramoff is the only guilty lobbyist, do you? He probably had some side companies or other lobbyists working for him. Also, you can say the same for the Republican donations. Some may be directly from Abramoff and some may be from accomplices of Abramoff, hence Abramoff-related.
Abramoff-related or Abramoff-linked is just an easy way of having a general adjective for the entire scandal.
Saying that they didn't receive it DIRECTLY from Abramoff is this scandal's technicality the Dems are trying to use to escape justice.
BTW, you don't see anybody on this site making excuses for the GOP members that may have been involved in this scandal. We just want the MSM to realize that this is not just a GOP thing.

Most of the dem pundits and commentators have been saying the same thing, with little contradiction from the pubbie pundits and commentators. Whether it is a lie or the truth, the GOP needs to get out in front of this. Otherwise, the 'it was them (pubbies), not us (dems)' will stick in peoples' minds.
But, the pubbies are too busy eating their own again. The vultures have gathered and gone after their own Tom Delay.
