IRAN: HOLOCAUST CONFERENCE SOON IN TEHRAN

Tehran, 5 Jan. (AKI) - Iran has decided to rewrite and revise the history of the Holocaust. Following the repeated declarations by the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and other senior government officials on the need to re-examine the history of the genocide of the Jews during the Second World War, the association of Islamic Journalists of Iran has been tasked with quickly putting together an international conference on the Holocaust.

"President Ahmadinejad has placed at the centre of international attention, a very important question on the truthfulness of the version that Europe and the Zionists have imposed on the world on the murder of Jews during the years of the great war, and therefore we are of the opinion that it is useful and necessary to organise an international conference on that theme, where all the historians and researchers, even those that do not believe in the official version, will be able to express themselves freely," Mehdi Afzali, spokesperson of the Association of Islamic Journalists told Adnkronos International (AKI).

"We want to offer a free and democratic platform to the historians to examine in-depth this myth, seeing that in different European countries there exist laws against democracy and freedom that to do not allow intellectuals who believe in a version distinct from that which is officially pronounced on the Holocaust," added Afzali.

"We will invite those who believe in the imposed version as well as all those who have spent years of their lives in the study of documents related to the Holocaust and have come to the conclusion that the history books in schools and universities do not correspond to the truth," said Afzali, who however refused to supply the names of the revisionist historians who have been contacted to appear in the conference in Tehran. Revisionists are those who deny that the Holocaust ever happened.

In Iran, books by the English historian, David Irving, currently in custody in an Austrian jail after having been accused of denying the Holocaust, are very popular.

Among the names of possible guests at the conference are the Israeli journalist lsrael Shamir, a convert to Christianity, and Horst Mahler from Germany, a former member of the the terrorist group, the Red Army Faction. Other revisionist scholars, such as the French Robert Faurisson and the American Arthur Butz, are also some of the other possible participants of the conference in Tehran.

  • Thomas Donnelly, American Enterprise Institute published an important report: Rising Powers and Agents of Change.
  • Monsters & Critics reported that Israeli security arrested a suspected Iranian spy who was the former head of a local council in the Galilee.
  • NewsDay argued that now is the time to renew the effort for collective action against Iran.
  • Iran Focus reported a meeting was called off between a Russian delegation and Iranian officials in Tehran set to take place on Saturday.
  • Michel Abu Najm, Asharq Alawsat published an interview with former Syrian Vice-President Abdul Halim Khaddam, who is now seeking a regime change in Syria.
  • Amir Taheri, Asharq Alawsat reviewed the new movie, Syriana, and ponders how American self loathing meets Arab conspiracy theories.
  • Jephraim P Gundzik, Asia Times reported the west is running out of options with Iran.
  • Michael Ledeen, National Review Online asked: Why should anyone believe anything the CIA has to say about Iran?
  • Spiegel Online reported on the rise of the Iranian hard-liners. The German media is awakening to the danger of the Islamic Republic.
  • The New York Times reported more details on the story behind Iran's abruptly canceling a high-level meeting with the IAEA in Vienna and sudden return to Tehran.
  • Monsters and Critics reported that an Iranian court is likely to hand down a verdict within a week on a pair of German and French deep-sea fishermen who strayed into Iranian territorial waters six weeks ago.
  • Farah Pahlavi, The International Herald Tribune responded to Thomas Friedman's article, "A shah with a turban" and reminded readers under the late Shah, Iranians enjoyed incomparably better lives than what they have to endure today.
  • Zahid Hussainm, The Wall Street Journal reported that suspected separatists have blown up a natural-gas pipeline in southwestern Pakistan.
  • And finally, Washington Post reported that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the United States and its European allies have the votes to bring Iran before the U.N. Security Council.

I wonder how these assholes are going to erase the millions of photographs, testimonies, and memories of the survivors of something that never happened?

As more and more people from that era die off, there will be less witnesses who will be able to come forward to dispute these morons.

As for the photographs and testimonies from that time I am afraid that they will also be shoved aside by people with an agenda. We all personally witnessed the hijacked airliners crashing into the World Trade Center and Pentagon and yet our liberal news media and one of our two main political parties has decided that that act is not worth remembering.

It would be a BIG mistake for anyone in the West to "welcome the opportunity" to join a rigged conference like this, all under the fond conceit of "dialogue".
The West should boycott it. Or at the least should have extended an invitation FIRST to the holocaust-deniers to come to OUR table and explain their views on Jews and the Holocaust (as if we didn'/t know). Austria has the right idea: put them in jail. I resent all these faux invitations at "dialogue" offered by these Arab (or in this case PERSIAN/"ARAB) morons who belong back in the 7th Century.

I wonder if they will call what the insane mullahs are bringing onto the Iranian people a holocaust in the next decades.

I saw we carpet-nuke Iran until there's nothing left & then deny it.  Nukes?  What nukes?  Nope, never happened.

Jokes about genocide are a tough sell. Heard any good jokes about Darfur lately? No? Me either, which is exactly my point...

Jokes about genocide are a tough sell.

Who said I was joking?  My expression was one of anger at their continued denial of the holocaust and would it be okay if we did the same thing and denied it.  Funny how you missed the whole point but saw the "genocide" part.  I guess we only see what we want to see don't we?  Therefore, it was exactly the right thread for that comment.

Interesting point… So it wasn't humor you were going for but irony. I'm angry too; damn holocaust deniers! I suppose I express my outrage in a different way. The Iranian threat needs to go, no question about it. How? And When? Those are the hard questions! “Nuclear annihilation” and “now” are answers but fortunately not the only answers.

I agree with you, cant believe they are in denial of the whole holocast thing. What about the America troops who saw them with their own eyes, the photos, the thousands of jewish who survived it. And to this day some of the death camps still stand, in fact there are tours given. I dare them to denie that...

And another thing how can they denie the physical evidence, the camps themselves that are to this day still standing. Unless they are planning on destroying the death camps. How can they denie physical evidence. The evidence is over whelming. My own Uncle who is dead now told me about the jewish people and the conditions he saw them in, it was horrible. The holocast did happen, no matter what the iranians and others might say. You cant wish this away. Facts are facts.
