I wish for once all this conflict over Creation vs Evolution would stop.

Religion is based on faith...

Science is based on fact...

I believe God made the Earth and heavens, I just don't think he took seven 24-hour days. I can live with those seven days being 14 billion years or so long.

Those who are strict Creationists will never see eye to eye with Evolutionists and the Science Crowd will never agree with those believing only in each and every word of the Bible.

Let it go and let us all here on FR agree to disagree on this and keep the focus on defeating those Godless Democrats!

Well, considering that defeating 'Creationism' which is to say, Christianity, is a huge part of the DNC strategy, it would seem that keeping up the debate would be exactly the right thing to do.

Hillary is very, very, busy putting her political training to work, ie: Identify, Freeze, Polarize. She, and her minions, are attempting to polarize Christianity as a means of diffusing its influence in politics. Its not really about 'evo vs creo' its about Hillary being President in 2008.

Science is based on fact... M.

Science is based on evidence. Not all conclusions based on the evidence is correct. Evidence should be taught as fact. Conclusions should be taught as theory. The problem with science today is they insist on teaching theory as fact. That leads to a environment where no one is able to question scientific theory, which in the end actually stiffles advancement in science. Many things that science believes about evolution are false but no one dares question it.

There are plenty of facts supporting the truth of Christianity; and certainly there is a degree of faith involved, as well.

Not all of science is based on only facts. Evolutionists tell us that gravity is not a fact, but only a theory.

Evolution is based on some facts and a lot of speculation and beliefs not supported by facts.

Uh....just a second here. Are you actually saying that ALL science is based on fact? Cause I've seen a helluva lot of science that's based on mere THEORY. Like global warming, for instance. For every scientist that claims global warming is a fact, there's another that claims it's not a fact and has not been proven (ergo, is a theory). A lot of science (for instance, re: deep space) is based on theory, not fact.

On this point the matter is not so clear. Faith denotes trust. Few people trust in something for which there is no evidence. Science and religion both deal with facts. Both require a certain amount of faith. Furthermore, science is at heart a conjectural process. While it deals with objective evidence, untimately it must make leaps of faith as it interprets and applies the same. Why? Because science cannot possibly observe and test every case, and thus arrive at ultimate proof of its deductions.

I agree with you completely that this issue, while divisive on the face of it, should not prevent both sides from finding common ground in a country that by definition accomodates people of all stripes.

Einstein demonstrated that how long it takes for some point in the universe to mark out one 24 hour day depends on your inertial reference frame, either as a fraction of the speed of light or in an intense gravitational field.

The time dilation equations make it very clear that it's entirely possible that there are places and things in the universe which have experienced only a few thousand years since the beginning of time.

And that is scientific fact.
