The Cisneros probe: Who's hiding what?
Sunday, January 8, 2006
Independent Counsel David M. Barrett has spent $22 million on a 10-year-old investigation of Henry Cisneros.
Mr. Cisneros was a Clinton-era housing secretary who pleaded guilty in 1999 to a misdemeanor count of lying to the FBI. Just before he left office, Bill Clinton pardoned him.
Snip
You'd think it was all over with the guilty plea. It wasn't. Mr. Barrett also was possibly looking into Cisneros' tax records and then allegations the Clinton administration used the IRS against political enemies. Stonewalling by the IRS and the Justice Department may have put Barrett off his game.
Barrett's report has been finished since 2004. It remains unreleased. Lawyers for people named in the report have been petitioning the supervising judges to remove their clients' names and damaging allegations.
Pressure is rising from Republicans in Congress for release of the document while Democrats are resisting, fearing politically explosive revelations about Bill and Hillary Clinton and other Democrats. Barrett has given a tentative date of release as Jan. 19. But who knows what juicy nuggets will have been removed.
The proper objectives of law enforcement do not include protecting Mrs. Clinton's campaign for the presidency.
Reveal all and let the chips fall where they may.

Are you as tired as I am of the Bushes covering for the Klintoons?
Hey I think we need to hold this report a while longer. I think it needs to be released in October 2008.
Those of us trapped in 56K dialup HELL really appreciate it!
Yeah, use the Rat tactic of "October Surprise" on the Demwits. :)
I am damned sick and tired of politicians of all stripes and persuasions being able to get away with almost anything. Period!!
Not as tired as I am of the Bushes being blamed for everything.
Yes, I am. Despite some superficial differences mostly presented for the media and the gullible electorate they are partners in crime. Did you see the two buffoons slobbering over each other in the White House when Clinton's portrait was presented? And the pathetic parade of Bush 41 and Clinton as they masquerade under the pretense of the global charity ball? Meanwhile Abel Danger and the Barrett report in all their treasonous and perfidious detail are concealed from us as the two "boys" laugh it up at our expense. What we need is a third major party to express the conservative view. Right now we are supposed to choose between "tweedle-dum" and "tweedle-dee" and hope we've selected the lesser of two boobs. The system isn't working and we need a true conservative revival.
Wow. a major Urban Newspaper that gets it.
56k. Do you remember 8k? You could take a nap during a download.
That newspaper is owned by Richard M. Scaife, one of the most conservative men in America.
Shucks, I even remember 300 baud <o))))><

Thank you for demonstrating a complete ignorance of American History and current US Politics. It is AMAZING how Messianic the rabidly ignorant 3rd party crowd is. Or are you one of the Moveon.org geeks who thinks you can "bore within" and fracture the Conservative Movement? Gee sorry if the rest of us are NOT interested in joining your quixotic quest for total political irrelevancy. The solution is to take our party back NOT join the losers on the fringe
8K? Hell, that's fast! I can remember 110 baud via an acoustic coupler. You could get a full night's sleep during a download :) But don't snore, 'cause the coupler might "hear" you and garble the download.
Later I was able to upgrade to a 300 baud acoustic coupler. Talk about flying!
Man Saturday Nights sure bring out the completely political loony tunes don't they. Gee really helps YOUR side spending 100% of you time ranting about YOUR team. Man are the self proclaimed "real Conservatives" PR stupid.
