WASHINGTON
Embattled Rep. Tom DeLay decided Saturday to give up his post as House majority leader, clearing the way for new leadership elections among House Republicans eager to shed the taint of scandal, two officials said.
These officials said DeLay, R-Texas, was preparing a letter informing fellow House Republicans of his decision. These officials spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt the formal announcement.
DeLay is battling campaign finance charges in Texas and was forced to step aside temporarily as majority leader last fall after he was charged in his home state. He has consistently maintained his innocence and said he intended to resume his leadership post once cleared.

He would have to make a deal with the moderates. He is about 40 votes short.I have always said it would be easier for Pence to win the 08 nomination that Speaker or Majority Leader. There is a Draft among the RSC to get Pence in the race.

Ronnie Earle, that sleazy weasel, wins this round. It won't be the last round though.

He feels Delay is not a good majority Leader and that Delay has constantly sold out the conservative movement for Politics as usual.Abramoff's rise to power is largely attributed to Delay.Republican does not equal conservative.

Fear is not an excuse. Republicans are not supposed to get scared in the face of mild controversy

That's what this whole witch hunt was about. To get rid of DeLay and yet again, the snakes have slithered out their way. Yep, the Rats got what they wanted. Any minute now the charges against DeLay will quietly be dismissed or settled and you won't hear a peep about it in the news.
DAMN YOU DEMOCRATS!

The people who forced out Delay never thought he was a good majority leader in the first place.Flake and some of the others have felt like Delay was a big government Republican who only cares about politics as usual.

That's Barbara Streisand. Give some examples where Flake has been a better leader then Delay

Charges against DeLay will be dropped after the trial is delayed a few more months.

Flake deliberately called the anti-american MSM, (who are in the process of defeated us in a war), to trash his leader who is under fire.
He has learned from McCain, and believes his political life lies with the MSM.
He is desperately wrong.

Has the countdown started to when the first dem says that now DeLay should resign from Congress. It will probably be Tancredo who calls for him to resign just like he did almost a year ago.
