Its Randy Cunningham.

Delay did not protect him, many Republicans attacked him, and you saw none of the "A great war hero who did wrong" kind of talk from the Right.

Well, now the old Duke is back, the slimy, vindictive guy from his Navy days, and he is about to drag a lot of guys down with him.

The word is, Duke is naming names big time, and it could be a bloodbath.

All I can say is that if you lay down dirty dogs, you could get fleas. Republicans wanted Duke for the War-Hero stuff, and never once took a look at his character.

We can only hope that Duke fingers Democrats too.

This time please do not vote for the GOP and do not contribute any money. We do not need people like you.

Charlie Rangel -- I seem to recall that he is very popular among many Republicans such as Jack French Kemp, who always goes out of his way to praise "our Democratic friends."

I know you are excited about this because of Mike Pence...and if I thought this was the right way to go about it...and IF I thought Pence would be helped by this...

then I might be less upset...but, I don't see it working out that way...

I saw Peter King on Fox News earlier...and he was pretty perturbed about how "the GOP seem to always eat their own"...and he was told that Jerry Lewis from CA will run...and he indicated he would be a formidable candidate..

Probably because CA has so many representatives..to vote for one of their own.

That guy Boehlert seems, for some reason, also to be considered a front runner.

Right now, today....I just see this as another horrible chapter in how the GOP have let down their constituents this year..and how the dems seem to just get rewarded by dirty tricks all of the time....sigh

Don't think this has been posted here yet:

Text of Letter From Rep. Tom DeLay

Dear Colleague:

Today, I have asked Speaker Hastert to convene our conference for the purpose of electing a new majority leader, the position I have been honored to fill these past three years through the trust and confidence of our colleagues.

During my time in Congress, I have always acted in an ethical manner within the rules of our body and the laws of our land. I am fully confident time will bear this out.

However, we live in serious times and the United States House of Representatives must be focused on the job of protecting our nation and meeting the daily challenges facing the American people. History has proven that when House Republicans are united and focused, success follows.

While we wage these important battles, I cannot allow our adversaries to divide and distract our attention. I will continue to stand up for the issues I care so deeply about and work with you all on these priorities. I am constantly thankful for the support of my constituents in recent days as well as over the years they have allowed me to serve them. I will continue to work every day to fulfill their trust, and yours.

Regards,

Tom DeLay

Especially if Dems knew about it and Pubbies didn't.

Very interesting point. It would be the perfect set-up to bring down Repubs and make the Dims look like the saviors of this country. Consider the NSA leaks and the GJ leaks concerning Scooter. Also FEMA director, Michael Brown. They hurt Repubs and this country, yet the dims came out smelling like roses...whistleblowers, the old media calls them. Traitors in my book.

"If the voters want big government, then why should a president politician veto big government?"

GOP voters?? You're dreaming...

No, you're not awake. The majority of the electorate as is seen by their voting patterns wants big government. Until you identify the problem, you're never going to help come up with a solution.

But ummm...Maybe you're right. Why would this Republican President who is FOR Big Gub'mint veto ANY budget? (as Ronald Reagan spins in his grave)

Actually, Reagan vetoed Tip O'Neil's higher rates of spending than what we have now.

(Don't spin the Gipper)

...jailing someone for a golf junkett is absurd.

I'm not suggesting that anyone go to jail for a round of golf. However, accepting expensive freebies from a sleazy lobbyist should disqualify someome for a leadership position in the Republican party, IMO.

They will be protected at all cost. This country be damned, they must protect their people.

I agree there's heavy media bias but I don't totally buy your argument. There's a tipping point where the juiciness of the scandal outweighs editorial partisanship. Besides, in an election all you have to do is convince the undecideds. That's what campaign commercials are for.

Don't worry about that poster, Adam. Check out some of his other posts and you'll see the horse blinders he wears.

I, like you, worked my @ss off for Bush in 2004. I gave money, time, blood, sweat and tears, and while we lost Wisconsin by 11,841 votes (Grrrr!) I feel like you do: I was glad we won, but man, it's certainly NOT turned out like I imagined it would be.

As President Bush said, the first thing he and Laura were going to do was to scrub the Oval Office clean again...and now, I fear, we need to seriously do the same to the House and Senate, no matter what the party affiliation. I still think Bush is a good man, at heart and a solid leader, but these crooked Dems and RINOs have GOT to go, IMHO.

And you think the MSM and the Democrats are going to accept the Delay sacrifice (plus all the other Republicans that are going to get thrown under the bus in the coming days to try to appease their enemies) and give this up as a campaign issue?

Nope. But Delay was becoming a wedge within the GOP caucus and things were starting to crack. November is coming real soon. Winning is harder when you aren't united.

Thanks for the comments. I agree that there's some truth to what you say. However, I do find it unacceptable that our leaders should get one dime from those who lobby them.

I believe that Congress was envisioned in it's inception, to be a part time job. It was not meant to make people wealthy through pay or influence peddling.

I'd rather see Congresional salaries eliminated, and those who work there be forced to support themselves nine months out of the year, and only serve three months per year.

I'd also like to see them serve no more than ten years in our capital.

There is simply too much power in the hands of these people, who mostly seem to be for sale in some way or another.

Nobody should go to Washington and increase their financial standing ten fold.
