DeLay Will Quit Leadership Post in House

By DAVID ESPO AP Special Correspondent

WASHINGTON

Embattled Rep. Tom DeLay decided Saturday to give up his post as House majority leader, clearing the way for new leadership elections among House Republicans eager to shed the taint of scandal, two officials said.

These officials said DeLay, R-Texas, was preparing a letter informing fellow House Republicans of his decision. These officials spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt the formal announcement.

DeLay is battling campaign finance charges in Texas and was forced to step aside temporarily as majority leader last fall after he was charged in his home state. He has consistently maintained his innocence and said he intended to resume his leadership post once cleared.

The pro Choice psuedo conservatives are out in strength to swagger about as their moderate heros have won a battle over Delay.

Oh yes, all these GOP bashers are pro Choice. They know full well that by failing to take action to oppose Democrats they are putting them into power to continue their stare decisis strategy of establishing pro Choice precedents in the lower courts.

These self declared advocates of principle have only one true principle and that is to kill children. And worse of all, it's not a matter of interpretation. They know they are killing kids. They don't care.

I fear Bush is a lame duck."

He's been a lame duck for some time.

Aside from Iraq, his agenda hasn't been going anywhere for a while.

Because the 'Rat party is 100% corrupt, evil, banal and useless. That's been clear and stipulated long ago - it's obvious.

If that is true, you should work on getting rid of the dems first and then attacking the repubs. Why you don't is beyond me.

I don't know if Delay has actually done anything illegal or not. If he did play golf in Scotland and paid the bills with a lobbyist credit card that is just plan stupid in todays political environment. (Its stupid even if he reimbursed the lobbyist!) Also it's a display of arrogance that I more associate with democrats, e.g. how many of his constituents play golf in Scotland ? This is why we need term limits for Congress. Its very unfortunate the two term limit organizations couldn't put their egos aside and keep the pressure on the, then Gingrich led Congress. I also remember that Gingrich and Armey were not particularly enthusiastic supporters of term limits.( I really felt betrayed by Gingrich & Armey as well as by the term limit organizations on this issue!)
I think a Congress should be limited to 6 consecutive terms (12 yrs) a decade plus in Congress should be enough !
Senators should be limited to two consecutive terms (12yrs). As a compromise I would say a Congressman/woman must sit out of Congress 4 years & a senator 6 years before they return.
Also another reform that would be a great improvement would be the repeal of the amendment that provides the direct election of Senators. It would again make the Senators more responsive to their state's needs and less to a national party agenda.

If RATS get control of the House, it is going to get very ugly. For instance, John Conyers will be the Judiciary Committee chairman. Impeachment hearings would begin within ten minutes of that and the press would be handed a parade of lies against the President and the GOP.

THAT is exactly their plan! The MSM is just drooling for the elections this year. They want to see if the Dems get their chance for revenge for impeaching Clinton!

It galls me to no end that we sacrifice our own on the "alter of perfection", while the rat party continues it's march into socialism.

"Perfection"????? The Republicans won't even take PBS off the taxpayer tit. America deserves better than two socialist, free-spending, all-controlling Big Stupid Government parties.

They democrats have a very little chance to control the House in 2006. However suppose they did and controlled the House and started impeachment, they still cannot get 67 senators to remove him from office.

"The center is not too bad a place to be. It is the moonbat communist/leftists that we need to worry about."

Disagree.

When the Right gets shoved to the Left, the Left becomes even more "leftist."

P.S. -- Winding up in the political "center" in view of the recent GOP dominance of the Presidency, the House and Senate is disgraceful and pathetic, clearly potending a future rife in socialism. But that's exactly where the NWO puppet-meisters want us to be.

I won't deny that as long as you admitt the real threat to the US is not the rinos, but the moonbat democrats.

The way I see it, imo is, One of two things have happened.

1)Delay did something wrong and he knows it will come out...
OR
2)He doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to fight this thing all the way to it's conclusion.

Either one of those and I say, good riddance.

It is the Democrat Party has no core principles to stand for and defend, other than getting elected. And if you think otherwise, you are a nut.

Absolutely wrong. The 'Rats have many core principles: abortion, subsidies, union power (especially government unions), supporting the UN without question, running our lives and taking our money. How many democRats don't work for those in Congress on a daily basis?

Now, list the core principles of the Republican Party, explain for us how they are achieving them and show where they haven't backed down on campaign promises. Go ahead; we're waiting.

Amen to that. The Republican majority is more important than any one man. By the way, Charlie Rangel would head Ways and Means!! When you see the Democrats who'll control vital committees if they gain the majority is truly frightening.

A Republican.

What in the world are you thinking? You want history to view President Bush as equivalent to Clinton?

Every POSSIBLE effort in volunteering and fundraising must take place to win non safe House districts. The only way to deny those seats to the Dems is to send money to the GOP. Period and full stop.
