BAGHDAD, Jan 7 (Reuters) - A female Western journalist was kidnapped in Baghdad on Saturday and her translator killed, police said. They said she was on her way to a meeting with a Sunni Arab leader when a car carrying an unknown number of gunmen blocked her vehicle in the Adel district near Malik bin Anas mosque in west Baghdad.
The gunmen shot dead her driver, an Iraqi journalist who also worked as her translator, abandoned their car and drove off in hers.
There has been a spate of kidnappings of Westerners in Iraq over the past few months after a lull during most of 2005. Four Christian peace activists -- a Briton, an American and two Canadians -- are still being held captive. A French engineer is also being held.
It looks like this was done specifically at the CSM's request. Perhaps they are thinking of her safety, not wanting to associate her with a "Christian" (I know, that's a larf, but muzzies won't know the difference) newspaper.
The captured reporter is a young, female and liberal. It is not in the best interests of the liberal media if she is killed.
What does her being young and female have to do with it? And is she "liberal"? What is your proof of that? If she is "liberal," why would big players in the liberal movement care a whit about what happens to her? She's nothing but a stringer for the Christian Science Monitor. She's a young professional trying to make her way in her chosen profession. She's not "the enemy." I think that anyone who is not a monster like her kidnappers should be hoping for her safe return, and that no one stands to be more adversely affected by her death than anyone else because of political affiliation. This is well beyond that. I looked at some of her articles and while they are not Rush/Hannity they appear to be far from barking moonbat. I think the politicization of this is in not very good taste.
I'm not saying she is the enemy. I am saying that the liberal media do not want it known that one of their own is currently being brutalized in typical Iraqi fashion.
And the young and female aspect is very important since she is most likely being violated by her captors in the way all young female American captives are violated by Iraqis. The liberal media has aligned themselves with the "insurgents" and now that one of their own is being violated by their allies, it's puts them in an uncomfortable position.
And her kidnapping was staged by the inhabitants of the mosque. Not surprising at all.
A guard outside Dulaimi's office told AFP he heard gunshots fired a short distance away and rushed to find the body of a slain man.
Does anyone even read this drivel before it's published??
They said she was on her way to a meeting with a Sunni Arab leader
Thats who set her Up.
