Hah! Had a good laugh at that photo!

That seagull of yours looks almost like a "kereru" or woodpigeon, one of our native birds.

Looks exactly like a turkey-sized pigeon, except with a pigeon-sized head. As the berries grow more abundant upon which they live, they grow huge. Supposed to be good eating, but protected by legislation now.

It's a miracle they can fly at all: when they take off, fly, or land, you can hear 'em coming for miles. Whoosh! One of the more improbable things you could ever see or experience.

(The ones in my back yard are getting much larger than in the photo). They visibly drop several feet after take-off before recovering, and make a heck of a "Swoosh!" sound!

Oh, I'm sure I would have remembered...can't see how I missed you...!

Dad was in the Air Force, I was born in England...from there to Italy, then California, then Mississippi, than North Africa, then we settled for a while in Dayton, OH. My parents split, Mom remarried, and we moved to Phoenix.

I joined the Army there, and went to Germany twice with tours of duty in Kansas, California, Texas, and Maryland in-between...finally settling here at Ft. Huachuca.

Been around? Not really, compared to some I know.
