Ramona Bell (Mrs. Art Bell) Dies
Unknown Country ^ | January 5, 2004 | Anne Streiber

Posted on 01/05/2006 11:30:07 PM PST by JennysCool

Art Bell's beloved wife of fifteen years, Ramona, died unexpectedly last night after an asthma attack. At present, the exact cause of Mrs. Bell's death has not been determined. It apparently took place during her sleep.

Until her death, Art and Ramona Bell had not been apart a day since they were married. Mrs. Bell had suffered from asthma for years, and took her normal steps to control the attack, which occured sometime last night in Laughlin, Nevada where the Bells were taking a brief vacation. Ramona Bell was 47 years old.

I recall she was a practicing wiccan but was often discribed as a witch. This was years ago when Art was still full time on Coast to Coast. I feel very bad for him; so much turmoil, stress and pain with his teenage son's abduction and rape by an HIV infected teacher (his son did not test positive), that trial, various attempts by huckster lunatics (a former guest into voice analysis as I recall) to attack him, his back trouble, now the loss of his wife Ramona.

He's an Air Force vet (med tech) and I recall he had been a 911 operator or dispatcher.

you take a thread about Art's wife passing and turn it into a "homo" bashing thread.

He/she certainly did not.

A great show .......... whether it's a very serious subject or somewhat absurd.

I also count myself privileged to have been listening the night Art accidentally super-glued his lips togther! That was great radio!

Did you ever see a movie in which this happened?

***

"A Burt Reynolds movie I saw 'centuries ago' where he is having an affair with Kim Bassinger, and somehow they managed to get glue all over their hands, and she tries to remove his belt but then can't put it down, and then the husband comes home and Burt hides in the closet, but then the toy Scottish terrier is clawing at the door, so Burt picks it up and holds it in his lap. Kim, meanwhile, is distracting her husband by asking him to look out the window with her hands and the belt behind her back, while jerking her head at Burt to start crawling out of the room, but of course now his hand is stuck to the dog's fur, so he has to crawl, commando style, across the huge bedroom suite, get into his car (quickly abandoning a futile attempt to fasten the seatbelt) and get out of the gated complex and past the security guard, steering with the dog stuck to his hand."

"Back in the bedroom, Kim puts her hands at her side, cracks the belt like a whip, and says, "Honey, we're going to do something different tonight!""

****

Funniest couple of minutes I ever saw in a movie in my life. Watching Reynolds trying to steer that car with the little dog stuck to his hand almost gave me a heart attack.

;-)

I liked listening to the wing-nuts... and the few 'interesting' people he'd have on. Those people with the EVP audios really creeped-me-out.

Roger that, I use Advair, too!

We also have four cats, I took shots years ago for cat allergies and the shots cured them ~ one of the cats even sleeps with me. :)

Prayers to Art for the loss of his beloved Ramona.

If she was that allergic to cats she wouldn't have had any. I was going to blame feather pillows at the hotel but if she was allergic to feathers that would have been the first thing she checked in the room. I'll bet she had an allergic reaction to a medication she was taking. God Bless her and Art Bell.

This is A LOT of bad stuff to put up with, and I feel sorry as hell for Art.

You forgot Art's own health problems. His back trouble was so bad for awhile that he was forced to retire.

I can barely stand to look at that picture, they meant so much to one another. No psychic told him, they are all fakes, I'm sorry to say but it is true. Yes there is esp, and ones who have it abundantly, but the fact is if your wife was to die of an asthma attack at a certain time and you 'knew' it and knew how to get in touch with Art because you knew you would tell him so he could stop it in an emer dept.

Art and Ramona loved each other, and I hope he gets through this without despairing to an early grave, as so many do when a spouse who is this close leaves them.

Art, who prob will never read this is a wonderfully deep person with a heart of gold. It makes me sick to hear of such sad things happen to a man like this.

That's what it takes to turn some people to Christ. Ask any of them who did, and they'll tell you it was well worth it. Art Bell may yet be one of them.

Well-said, Beowulf!

I hope Art does have a chance to see this thread. So many good wishes for him.

As to the grouches -- being a radio guy, I'm sure he's used to them!

So she wasn't the mother of his son? I believe he was older.

I wonder if Art's smoking contributed to the severity of her reactive airway disease.

I got a free sample of Advair. Thinking of giving it a try, in spite of the idiotic commercial.

I would speculate it was a food allergy that got her that set off her asthma.

She might have also fell asleep with her head raised forward by a pillow, which would reduce the airway on the windpipe of her throat.

This kind of death I've heard in related to shell fish allergies.

I use it only once every 36 hours and it totally stops all my asthma.
They usually recommend twice a day, so I am happy I use it so little.
All other medications could leave me a bit wheezy at times.

This medication makes it like I never had asthma.

Advair is a great thing.

I play tennis with my doctor who gets me samples as well.
