Art Bell's beloved wife of fifteen years, Ramona, died unexpectedly last night after an asthma attack. At present, the exact cause of Mrs. Bell's death has not been determined. It apparently took place during her sleep.
Until her death, Art and Ramona Bell had not been apart a day since they were married. Mrs. Bell had suffered from asthma for years, and took her normal steps to control the attack, which occured sometime last night in Laughlin, Nevada where the Bells were taking a brief vacation. Ramona Bell was 47 years old.

I read this on another board but didn't have confirmation.
Bummer, I like Art, his guests are almost totally insane or charlatans or both (like the fake indian scam artist Robert Ghostwolf that died last week)
I'm sorry to hear this.

Ramona was such a huge part of his life. I recall hearing him discuss her asthma before. Such a shame.

Damn, I'm really sorry to hear this. She was way too young to go. He really seemed to love her a lot, so I don't doubt he is in great pain right now.

It's shocking. Art is a great man, and from what I have heard of his wife, they were wonderful together.
Prayers for his family.

Never believed anything on Art's show except the fact that he loved Ramona....
Sorry to hear this.

How sad and tragic. I feel deep sympathy for Art right now. She was his life.

Damn. She seemed like a pretty cool person.
I always thought the show was silly, but I enjoyed listening to Art when I had an all night deadline to make.
Deepest sympathy for you and yours, Mr Bell.

Condolences to Art, though I doubt he reads this board. He earned his money by providing entertainment. I doubt he believes in everyrthing that went out over the air during his show.
I hope some good comes of this by highlighting the dangers that face even a mildly asthamtic person. Status asthmaticus is oftenn fatal unless agressively treated.
God bless Art and all concerned.

Terribly sad news. I met Art and Ramona at a book signing at the Escondido Barnes & Noble in 1996. Nice people. As much as I miss Art's regular hosting of his show, the time off gave Art and Ramona time to enjoy some good times together. My wife is the same age as Ramona.
