Wedding couples pick the 'Devil's date' (6/6/06 popular in Netherlands)

AMSTERDAM — More weddings than normal are being planned for 6 June in the Netherlands this year, apparently because of the reference in the Bible to 666 as the 'Number of the Beast'.

Seventeen couples have applied to marry in the Dutch city of Enschede on 6 June 2006 so far. Normally there are only two to three weddings in the city on a Tuesday.

Fourteen weddings are planned for 6 June in the central district of Rotterdam, compared with the usual figure of six to eight weddings in the area on a Tuesday in June.

The authorities in Arnhem said nine couples have signed up for 6-6-6, far more than on any other Tuesday. "Tuesday is normally a very quiet day," a spokesperson said.

The sixth day of June is also a popular wedding date in the cities of Utrecht, Groningen and Nijmegen this year when compared to previous years. Leeuwarden in the north expect to celebrate its first Tuesday weddings in years.

One explanation for the enthusiasm for the date is that it is easy to remember: 6-6-6.

Another has more sinister connotations: the 'Number of the Beast' is mentioned in the Book of Revelation of the New Testament and has long been accepted to be 666. In some interpretations the "Beast" refers to an Antichrist.

Amsterdam has not witnessed a similar rush to tie the knot on 6 June this year, though one couple  in the Slotervaart district of the city wanted to marry at 6 minutes past 6 on the morning of 6 June. Local officials decided they could not perform the ceremony so early in the morning.

It would be interesting to keep track of those couples and see how long their marriages last. Obviously they are not real Christians, so it would be interesting to study such a self-selected sample (even though it's still a tiny sample).

I was going pooh-pooh this as silly, since the first week of June is always the most popular week for weddings... but June 6 is on a TUESDAY. That's odd...

June 6th is also the landing at Normandy... How far are these towns from Normandy, which is near Belgium?... I mean, any reason why certain Dutch towns should be fixated on this date? I gather its a little odd for Satanists to do something so wholesome as to get married these days... Marriage is more-and-more a strictly religious thing to do, especially in Western Europe... Then again, didn't the Netherlands recently approve gay marriages? How many of these marriages are heterosexual?

How silly. People need to realize that 666 is just a number, and getting married on that day would be the same as getting married on 6/5/06 or 6/7/06. As for the couples trying to have a connection with the Biblical allusion of the triple-6 number ....well, earlier translations say the number is NOT 666 but instead 616.

Thus to be on the safe side couples should be married on the 16th day of the 6th month of 2006 (6/16/06 .....unless they use the British system of writing dates, which would have 16/6/06 instead of 6/16/06); or they can get married on the 1st day of the 6th month (6/1/06); and then get married on the 6/6/06 just to take care of all bases.

Somehow I doubt the Devil would want those people.

>> The children that will be born on 6/6/06 are already in the womb. <<

If some Satanists really knew their sh!+, they would aim for CONCEPTION on 6/6/06. Date of conception is more important than date of birth in ancient Judeo-Christian culture; for instance, Christmas (12/25) is celebrated on that date because Jesus was believed to have been conceived on the same date of his crucifixion, 3/25.

If you read it literally, it looks like the number is 600606, and of course we have to take into account that this originates in the mind of a prophet who spoke an ancient language. His vision could very well have been "Google".

(although it also so happens that 12/25 was the date of the Feast of the Dedication when the Sanheidren Jews believed the Spirit of God returned to dwell among Man in the Temple; this notion was rejected by the Jewish people after the destruction of the Temple and the widespread recognition of the Hasmodean line as illegitimate and cprrupt... and yes, 12/25 is also a major feast in most major societies, because it is the date that the ancients could recognize that the days were once again growing longer... It's no coindence that God willed the "Festival of Lights" to occur on this date.)

Keep in mind that Europeans place the date ahead of the month, so that 6/6/06 would be... oh, yeah right, 6/6/06.

Christmas (12/25) is celebrated on that date because Jesus was believed to have been conceived on the same date of his crucifixion, 3/25.

I don't believe that is correct. First, Christmas was set on Dec 25 to "replace" the pagan midwinter festivals. Second, the New Testament places Jesus birth in the spring. So his birthday and death day are close together.

Christ was born on September 11, 3 B.C.

Here's the basis for a subject I've studied and taught to fellow Christians for 20 years:
The Star of Bethlehem (Shockwave video)
http://askelm.com/video/v020301.htm
Explains very simply how conjunctions of the various planets, stars and constellations would have appeared to the Magi referenced in Matthew 2:1-12.

September 11th 3 B.C. astronomical chart
http://www.september11news.com/StarBethlehemConst911.gif
Described in Revelation 12:1 as follows:
"And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars"
The configuration of the sun and moon in the constellation Virgo occurred on only one day within the requisite historical and Biblical timeframes. Thus, Jesus Christ was born on Wednesday, September 11, 3 B.C., between 6:18 and 7:39 P.M., Palestine time. This was Tishri 1, New Year’s Day of Adam’s reckoning and "birthday of the world." This day was used to date the regnal years of the kings of Judah and the great Day of Trumpets celebrating Jehovah as the one True God.

The Star of Bethlehem by Craig Chester, Past President, Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy
http://www.hillsdale.edu/imprimis/1996/Dec96Imprimis.pdf
This six page article summarizes the Biblical, historical and astronomical events that converge on September 11, 3 B.C.
"The Star of Bethlehem was an excellent example of an event that occurs right at the intersection of Christianity and science, in a world created by a God who chose to institute natural laws but who nevertheless continues to carry out His own purposes."

If you are really ambitious and wish to trace all of the historical, Biblical and astronomical evidence for September 11 you can read this book online: "The Star that Astonished the World," by Ernest Martin, Ph.D.

September 11th in history
http://www.september11news.com/Sept11History.htm
Starts with Christ's birth on September 11 and continues to that fateful day on 9-11-2001.

You are right on both counts. December 25 was originally a Druid festival marked by the decorating of pine trees and firing lighted arrows into the sky to relight the sun. It was supposedly the first day where the shortening of days was noticeably halted or the worst was over from the viewpoint of the sun burning out. Any German familiar with the ancient culture basically backs up your account.

Some Christians remain skeptical, even though the Gospel of St. Luke account of shepherds in their fields is clearly a spring thing for those familiar with the climate and herding practices of that part of the world.

That being said, December 25 makes an appropriate day for celebration because, symbolically, the world was at their darkest point when Christ came into the world. Further, even though things did not improve immediately with his ministry and mission, the moral groundwork was established that would bring salvation to all those who accepted what he taught. Thus, symbolically, December 25 makes a very good day to honor God's Son just as the Germanic tribes used it to honor the Sun which God created.
