let it go to the SCOTUS.

If the ruling is grounded in the Florida constitution the SCOTUS won't have anything to say about it.

Was there a reason given?

They're Democrats, and they don't like vouchers.

I really can't understand why anyone would be surprised they ruled this way.

Me neither. This is the same wacky court that did the count, recount fiasco. I expected no less from them. The question is....how long will the people put up with it?

Why? Some (all?) people spend money on taxes for public schools; IMO its like getting (a small part of) that tax back to put your kid(s) in private school.

When the government starts providing money to private schools they will want to run them. Then you have publics schools. JMO. I know people that make minimum wage that send their kids to private school. It's possible, if it's a priority.

I personally don't believe that government money should be paying private school tuition outright because once you do that, you give the government cause to interfere in the affairs in the school, and the primary reason that I shelled out all that money for private schools over the years is that I didn't want my kids in crappy government schools.

Now, we're not exactly hurting for money, but in many of the Catholic schools here, you'll see people drive up in 15 year old cars, many families struggling, etc. These people have all made a cognizant decision that creature comforts are not as important as a good education for their children and are willing to sacrifice for it.

Vouchers may violate a Blaine amendment in the state constitution. There are Blaine amendments in many state constitutions.

Although I'm sure to disagree with the Court's reasoning, I'm a parent with kids in private school who does not want to see vouchers. The moment the government provides funding assistance to your private school it has given itself a reason to exercise some influence on every activitiy that happens at your school.

Yeah I know. I hate that I pay school taxes when I home schooled and my grandkids go to private school.

You need to read the bottom of the SC decision; take note of the people who worked to get this overturned. ACLU, Anti Defamation League and more. Then decide who you agree with...
