YOKOHAMA — A U.S. serviceman from the U.S. aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk has admitted killing a 56-year-old Japanese woman in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, informed sources said Thursday, citing investigations by the U.S. forces in Japan.
More than one U.S. serviceman were taken in custody, including the one who admitted killing the woman, the sources said.
The victim, Yoshie Sato, was found bleeding from her face and head near a building in Yokosuka at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The U.S. forces started investigating the case following inquiries from the local police, who found footage on a security camera near the crime scene showing Sato with a person who appeared to be a foreigner, the sources said.
She was on her way to work when she was attacked and severely beaten, and died from loss of blood with rupture of her internal organs, the police said.
Sato's bag was found in a parking lot nearby but there were no bills in her wallet, the police said.
The Kanagawa police are expected to ask the U.S. forces through the Foreign Ministry to hand over the suspect for investigation.
The United States agreed in 1995 to give "sympathetic consideration" to handing over to the Japanese authorities service personnel suspected of serious crimes such as murder and rape before indictment is made.
Time to turn that scumbag over to the Japanese authorities. Avoid, or at least diminish, the international incident situation and, at the same time, be able to wash our hands of this murderous turd.
Only choice. Though a public hanging by our troops for this killer would be a significant gesture.

I am just so sorry for all the well-mannered Sailors and Marines in Yokosuka that are going to suffer the consequences of this murderous scumbag's action.

In the long-term, sure. But I am pretty much willing to bet that Yokosuka is going to be locked down tonight with liberty sharply curtailed for all servicemembers in Japan in the short-term.
Plus, it is going to get the anti-bases fanatics yapping again.
They hang murderers in that country and they don't wait 20 years to do so, either. Sayonara, bakayaro.
And that's the way it should be.
This thug is going to find out the hard way what we discussed on that thread last week.
Japanese justice is stern.

I hate to hear when one of our servicemen do such awful things!
Actually, they sometimes do wait quite a while before carrying out the sentence. The catch is, the sentence is carried out with less than a day's notice.
