HOUSTON -- A Houston couple fed up with crime has asked the Guardian Angels to help make the Bayou City a safer place, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
Jeff and Christine Schmidt, Sharpstown residents, called the grass-roots anti-crime group after they got fed up about hearing gunshots in their neighborhood.
"It's like a bad war zone. That's the only way I can describe it -- constant bullets," Christine Schmidt said.
The President will condemn this "vigilantism" in 3... 2... 1...
Are the Guardian Angels still around? I had forgotten about them.
Okayyy. Histrionic much?
I remember when the GA used to ride the subways of NYC back in the 70's. They seemed to make a big deterent to crime.
Are you kidding? Not that Curtis doesn't like publicity.
I was surprised as well that they are still around.
Oh cant we just all get along (sarcasm alert).
Unfortunately America is unwilling to look honestly at the root of the problem. Until we are open about who and why are committing these acts then it will never improve. These are tough and revealing answers that will require us to look at race, values and genetic pre-disposition to certain traits and beliefs.
Lived in Sharpstown until the mid 80s before moving to the Midwest. Was a nice area, though it did have some problems.
Most of the problems came from mega-large apartment complexes in SW Houston. They were in transition from middle class to lower class when we left that area.
Sad to see it happen to one my favorite burbs.
I don't believe there is a "genetic pre-disposition" to criminal behavior. Criminal activity is a decision of one's will. The root problem of criminal behavior is a lack of character, IMO.
"I don't believe there is a "genetic pre-disposition" to criminal behavior."
We will have to disagree - Ive seen children in exactly the same circumstances do exactly opposite things. We are pre-wired to some extent - is it all genetic predisposition? Absolutely not but to say that it is not involved at all in our behavior is just ignorance of the facts.

Yes, we're still around. And spreading around the world, with chapters in over 60 cities in 9 countries worldwide.
Very large push into Canada these days: Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver.
And we are growing in numbers in New Zealand: our biggest challenge DownUnder is to contain and manage the rate of growth. We'll be back in Australia soon.
Cheers from DownUnder

"Chieftain" to my fellow Guardian Angels
