Pierce Brosnan has attacked President Bush for starting "a savage war" in Iraq and harming the environment - reports The Mirror.
The former Bond star said: "I have nothing against Republicans but this government has made decisions which we are to suffer the consequences of for a long, long time.
"You want to have faith in your leaders but it's very hard to have faith in President George W Bush."
He added in another interview: "Look at what he's done to the environment and this savage war that has started."
The Irishman admitted he risked a backlash like other stars who have spoken out about Iraq. He told the New York Daily News: "You speak up as an actor and people will shoot you down hard and fast.
"But you don't speak as an actor. You speak as a man, a working actor with a family."
The 52-year-old star also insisted he was no longer angry about being dumped as James Bond, he said: "Too many people get bitter about this game."
I just hope Tony Shaloob, Kiefer Sutherland, Alton Brown and Amanda Tapping can manage to keep their minds on their work, or I'll just have to give my TV away altogether.

Nearly three years later, and the death toll on our side still hasn't matched Pearl Harbor, or the London Blitz. I shudder to imagine what might have been had his thoughts prevailed during that time.

This is my favorite. The guy is contradicting himself all over the place here. I doubt even John Kerry could keep up.

Another Stargate fan, I have heard that they are not so certain about her future on SG1 next season, she might spend time between SG-1 and Atlantis.
Sean Connery was James Bond.
Someone as wimpy as Brosnan should never have been "hired" to try to portray the character, and his firing wasn't soon enough for me. His looks are more suited to portray vain, effeminate popinjays, so it doesn't surprise me that he would consider the actions needed to defend liberty as "savage". I have about the same regard for his opinions as I have for his looks.
Did he say anything about fleeing this country if Bush got re-elected?

Ditto your assessment of Brosnan's portrayal of the James Bond character.
He didn't live in the UK - Eire hasn't been British since 1922. Undoubtedly he left Eire to avoid their high socialist taxes - many move to the UK which has the lowest taxes in the EU, but he didn't and has never been a UK citizen.

From what I have read about him...His mother, May, was 19 when she gave birth to him. She had married his father, Thomas, on August 16, 1952. However, his parents separated when he was still a baby, and from the age of 4 he was raised by his maternal grandparents, Philip and Kathleen Smith, while his mother went to London to train as a nurse. When he was 6, both grandparents died and he was passed around amongst relatives until Eileen Reilly took him into her lodging house. Finally, when he was 10, his mother was able to take him to her home in Putney, London.
I don't know what country he is a citizen of. My sad guess is he probably has US citizenship....
With such an in-depth knowledge of his history you could almost be accused of being a fan! He's certainly lived here several times but I'm fairly sure he got US citizenship soon after he started appearing on TV. His Oxbridge accent was presumably developed while in London as it seems to open you up to a much higher level of Hollywood part than an Irish accent does!
Probably took the role as 1.) a social statement, 2.) got to work with Linda Hamilton, or 3.) he owed somebody big time.

Yep, he just got added to my list.
If Mr. Brosnan wants to see who is damaging the environment he should take a good hard look at Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo in Brazil or any industrial city in Eastern Europe, Russia, China or India.
I doubt if taking this stand will have any effect on his career -- even if he had one.
Now, supporting Bush -- THAT might well have some repercussions.
