Welfare for Republicans (Dems figure GOP can't choose their own pres nominee without liberal help)
The American Prowler ^ | 1/4/2006 | Lisa Fabrizio

Now that the holiday that dare not speak its name is in our collective rear-view mirror, it's that time of year when the political punditry turns their weary eyes to the future. And those who dominate the media are out of the gate early, chirping optimistically about liberal prospects in 2006 and beyond.

Their talking points are already out and the main message is this: Conservatives are stupid. Not only stupid, but dense, knuckle-dragging, thick-legged sheep who will submissively go wherever liberals want to lead them. So inept are they, that they are incapable of choosing their own presidential candidates.

I know this sounds strange coming from the Democrats -- who have been steadily losing elections for the past dozen years or so and most recently portrayed themselves as witless dupes when it came to endorsing the Iraq War -- but delusion has been their sole consolation of late.

One has only to watch the Sunday morning liberal love-fests to witness this strange phenomenon; a weird kind of reverse Schadenfreude whereby the left actually obtains enjoyment from its electoral losses by projecting its own self-defeating methods onto conservatives.

This is most evident in its predictions of the next Republican candidate for the White House. Now we conservatives may have our own ideas such as Virginia's George Allen or Sam Brownback of Kansas, or maybe even the evil warlord himself, Richard B. Cheney. Yet after winning five of the last seven presidential elections, what do we know? But fear not, liberals are determined to show us the way.

As is their custom, they will manipulate countless polls in an attempt to influence, rather than track, popular opinion. It goes like this: "Hello Mr. And Mrs. Republican. Given a choice between Hillary Clinton and Beelzebub, for whom would you vote in 2008?" The next day's headline in countless newspapers? "AP/Ipsos Poll: GOP voters prefer Beelzebub!"

One of the liberal favorites for this treatment is Rudy Giuliani who, when actually in office, constantly bedeviled the left. Up until 9/11, he was portrayed as a bull-headed, dictatorial, tin god who was insensitive to minorities and, in general, a detestable bully. Sure, he's a pro-abortion, gun-grabbing, gay rights advocate, but what good was that when he was merely a mayor?

Now that they see him as a national figure, he is the epitome of all that secular liberals love; a divorced Catholic at odds with the Church over some of its most sacred public stances. But despite the fact that most conservatives would shun his candidacy like the plague, liberal pundits will nonetheless chant "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy," for months to come.

Likewise, many in the media dream of reboarding the Straight-Talk Express of "maverick" John McCain. How they love his wry charisma, his quick wit, and especially the way he wrote a new Bill of Rights for terrorists after perverting the original one to silence political free speech in the name of campaign finance reform.

Can McCain garner enough backing from those on the right to win the nomination? Given their support for most of the Bush agenda, you'd think not. But again, the media think conservatives are too stupid to remember that McCain was considered so anti-Bush, he was reportedly offered the number two slot with John Kerry in 2004.

Can he win the nod without the right? For the record, during McCain's first attempt at the presidency in 2000, he won only seven primaries for a total of 193 delegates out of a possible 2,066. More telling is that most of those seven were 'open' primaries where the voting was not limited to Republicans. In his biggest win, Michigan, the great majority of his votes came from Democrats and independents.

It is worth noting also that McCain's victory in Michigan, as well as five others, came after his loss in South Carolina, where the left still contends that nefarious forces doomed his candidacy. The fact is that a McCain win in South Carolina would have been an anomaly considering that the rest of the South voted overwhelmingly for Bush in both the primaries and the general election.

So it would seem that Giuliani doesn't have the agenda to win the GOP bid and McCain, who has the fawning devotion of the media, lacks that of the Republican base. Still, that won't stop liberals from trying to persuade conservative dunderheads to mend their winning ways.

I would even drag my knuckles across broken glass to vote against Hillary.

In my experience, when a Democrat tells me he would vote for McCain, he doesn't know anything about McCain except he "speaks his mind," and then I ask him about McCain's position on abortion, free speech, and the war in Iraq, they hem and haw over voting for someone who's pro-life, restricts free speech through McCain-Feingold, and is pro-Iraq War.

They've been so conditioned by the media, which McCain loves, that they can't understand WHY the lefty media love him so--because he's a pain in the butt to Bush.

Gone are the days when "the media" had substantial say in these matters. Let them push McCain and the like all they want.

I think the left will idolize McCain during the republican primaries, and if he makes it as the presidential; candidate they will demonize him when he runs against their guy. Unfortuneately, he has given them plenty of ammunition to use against him. I hope that he backs out of the race before the primaries.

Last time he ran he slung tremendous mud against Bush, divided the party and weakened Bush for the election against Gore.

At the risk of becoming a bit tedious, I'll repeat my earlier prediction that John McCain (D) Arizona will lose decisively in the Republican primaries; and, he will then either run as a spoiler independent, or as Hillary Rodham's Veep.

I now believe the latter to be the more probable of the two scenarios.

McCain has ZERO chance. The Democrats/Independents will have their OWN hard fought primary camapign in 2008. They will be too busy to cross over in 2008, like they did in 2000, and try to sabatoge the GOP by voting McCain. As a potential Republican Delegate in a Blue State, if he cannot even win HERE he is NO where for 2008 and He cannot Win Minnesota

The Democrats will be too busy picking their own candidate in 2008 to cross over for McCain. McCain is a political dead duck.

It's my goal to attempt to ensure he wins no primaries whatsoever this time. I want McCain humiliated so that even the RINO's realize it's suicidal to associate with this vindictive loose cannon. I want him ranked dead last, or as near last as is conceivable. Not second, not third, not even fourth.

And, yes, it's incredibly amusing to watch Liberals try to dicate our choice. What infuriates is that so called "conservatives" afraid he'll be the nominee kiss up to him and write fluff pieces that we should accept the inevitable in desperation to keep a Democrat out. The blessing amidst frustration is that these weak kneed unprinciples end up revealing they are not 'stalwarts' of conservatism if they would cosy up to McCain under any circumstance.

I don't vote to keep Democrats out. I vote FOR people of Character. McCain is without. Nor is he exactly a Republican either.

I think you've nailed it. "Unite America" would be their slogan. Unfortunately, that would be our downfall.

What America needs in a president is one possessed of vision (an ability to speak coherently wouldn't hurt either): One willing to protect our country at any cost--screw the enemies of America: you want to play, ante-up, bitch. Closed borders, and proctologic exams of all entering from the Middle East. Dismantling of everything federal that has proven a failure, ie. Education, Arts, Energy, War on Drugs, IRS, Transportation, Bridges to Nowhere, Omnibus bills, etc. It's time to get serious.

Deport every poverty pimp to country of ethnic origin. Let them drag that country into the mud. Throw in a couple cases of condoms for each if AIDS is a problem (and it will be).

In short, America had better elect a president who will erect the walls necessary to remain a fortress, while adhering to the blueprint of the constitution and bill of rights for those inside or else, "I Have A Dream" will become "I'm Having A Nightmare". What better way than to lead by example (I often hear foreign countries are awash in ills headed our way) than to suffer fates we, and we alone, are prepared to defend against by mere birthright. I am lucky to have been born an American. Message to those that weren't: Please try harder.

Same old, same old...

I read an AP article yesterday about The Southern Republican Leadership Conference to be held in Memphis in March. It was talking about presidential hopefuls and also said: "Two dozen others have been invited, including party heavyweights John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Karl Rove, and many will attend."

If these are our "heavyweights," we have serious problems.

They are merely 'media weights'. Means they get face time. Paris Hilton could register as a Republican and get 20+%

McCain AND Guiliani will be beaten like red-headed stepchildren in any conservative arena. In areas where Dims can vote as Republicans, they may stand a chance.
