that John McCain (D) Arizona will lose decisively in the Republican primaries; and, he will then either run as a spoiler independent, or as Hillary Rodham's Veep.

I think you've nailed it. "Unite America" would be their slogan. Unfortunately, that would be our downfall.

What America needs in a president is one possessed of vision (an ability to speak coherently wouldn't hurt either): One willing to protect our country at any cost--screw the enemies of America: you want to play, ante-up, bitch. Closed borders, and proctologic exams of all entering from the Middle East. Dismantling of everything federal that has proven a failure, ie. Education, Arts, Energy, War on Drugs, IRS, Transportation, Bridges to Nowhere, Omnibus bills, etc. It's time to get serious.

Deport every poverty pimp to country of ethnic origin. Let them drag that country into the mud. Throw in a couple cases of condoms for each if AIDS is a problem (and it will be).

In short, America had better elect a president who will erect the walls necessary to remain a fortress, while adhering to the blueprint of the constitution and bill of rights for those inside or else, "I Have A Dream" will become "I'm Having A Nightmare". What better way than to lead by example (I often hear foreign countries are awash in ills headed our way) than to suffer fates we, and we alone, are prepared to defend against by mere birthright. I am lucky to have been born an American. Message to those that weren't: Please try harder.
