Folks, after going round and round with my novel, "September Day," a story about 9/11, it looks as though I'm going to self-publish. My NY agent shopped it everywhere, and got the same response: "well written, but we don't want to touch the topic."
Even when we could point to the phenomenal success of "A Patriot's History of the United States" (more than 40,000 sold and 53,000 in print), they still balked.
So, I need a cover image, and I'm having trouble finding one.
Here is what I really want: a picture of the SECOND plane about to hit the second tower, which I will then have an artist shadow in so that all you see are the silhouettes. I know such pics exist, but I'm having trouble finding the one I really want. Can any of you help with links?

I recall sitting in my doctors office watching one of the morning shows, maybe ABC, and seeing the plane fly into the second tower in real time. You should be able to get an image of that.

What an immediate and impressive response!
I never realized that so many different images from different angles existed.

That one, but from the side so that in black and white you can clearly see the plane and the building. You're on the right path.

That's exactly the one, blown up and focused just on the top quadrant. Thanks.

I saved all of the local newspapers from the 9-11 week. I still have them.
The most powerful picture that I saw was a full page spread which was printed on the 12th by the Boston Herald. Probably elsewhere as well, but that is where I saw it.
The scene shows one of the towers collapsing but in the foreground were people running for their lives.
I felt that I knew those people. They were black, white, yellow, and of so many different heritages. It struck me at the time that it was a genuine mix of the world right here in in the USA. That is what America is. We are the world, and somehow that image brought that right to me.
I have ever since felt that picture was the most profound of all that came out of that horrible day.

People will not automatically associate that with 9/11. Far too many people did NOT see those pics because they were censored. Good try, but not my choice.

I don't think even an artist's reproduction of that would get by the copywrite police. It's a great pic, though. But I like the planes better.

If you haven't seen the HBO special, "9/11: In Memoriam," a show with Rudy, it is stunning. They have all the photos. ALL of them.

I think post # 11, in silhouette, with the title in the smoke, will look nice.
