Shooting condemned by Mexico

Mexican officials from San Diego to Mexico City yesterday condemned the fatal shooting of a teenager by a U.S. Border Patrol agent and announced a homicide investigation into the migrant's death.

A Border Patrol spokesman said the agent, an eight-year veteran whose identity was not released, believed his life was threatened when an assailant began throwing rocks at him.

Raul Martinez,[B P spokesman] who is not related to the man who died, said assaults on agents have increased "dramatically" in the area where the shooting took place, about a half-mile east of the San Ysidro Port of Entry.

Agents are routinely pelted with rocks, sticks, bottles and other objects that, if thrown at close range, can cause serious injury or death, Martinez said. Agents have to make split-second decisions to protect themselves

"He feared for his life and discharged his weapon but was unaware at the time whether he'd struck the individual," said Border Patrol spokesman Raul Martinez. "We're still really unclear whether he did strike the individual."

"We're still really unclear whether he did strike the individual."

My guess is that it'll show up during the autopsy.

No kidding. I have contended for a long time that if you start shooting at illegal immigrants, maybe more of them would come here legally!

Even easier. Don't throw rocks at a guy with a gun.

BTW... a 19 yr old is a teenager.

I'm not kidding either. I'm getting sick and tired of this love affair the White House has been having with Mexico.

This should teach illegal immigrants not to throw rocks at American officers carrying firearms.

(In other words, don't bring a rock to a gun fight.)

Israels also argue that the projectiles can kill... so they shoot.

It's only a matter of time before the projectiles are bullets from drug lords. Then we'll have an international crisis.

Mexico must take the blame for this. They encourage their nationals to head to the north, for financial gain they refuse to provide to their own people. The human rights violations are on the heads of leaders from Mexico, not the U.S.

However, the U.S. is only responsible for NOT building a Wall of the U.S. decades ago...

Better yet, let's annex Mexico. Still, I see one problem with this in that if we do annex Mexico, the whiny ass Canadians will want in also.

It's about time these agents take some action, hey Mexico, if you don't want your people killed keep them the hell away from the border.

What about condemming the criminal action that led to the shooting? Mexico turns a blind eye to millions of criminals every single year.

There have been shootouts along the border with drug smugglers as far back as in the 70's from my personal knowledge.

The USBP is our frontline defense against any and all forms of criminals and terrorists. Local LE officers are right there with them and whether the libs like it or not, both back each other up.

These guys really need our support and we need to be shouting at Washington for the crap policies they hand down to them.

Good observation on your part, it will only get worse as it has been getting for 35 years, probably longer.

I "condemn" the wholescale invasion of my country by hordes of illegal aliens, welfare cheats, health care parasites, job stealers, criminal gangs, thugs and thieves, drunks and drunk drivers, Mariachi trumpet players, accordian playing bums and street paletta salesmen.

Presumably consular officials. Though i will grant you the corrupt thugs down there seem damn fuzzy on the geographical limits of their authority.
