Is George Bush Listening in on Your Phone Line?
Oregon Magazine ^ | January 1, 2006 | Larry Leonard

In fact, has Bush ever listened to one of your phone conversations? Unless you have spoken to a terrorist, the answer is no. Do you speak to terrorists? If you do, the answer is yes. Here is how it works.

Every president for decades has had the ability to do it. The technology has changed with the advent of cell phones and the advances in computers, but the point is the same. It used to be done with people doing the listening. Then, a clever geek came up with voice recognition software. After that, a computer could do the listening.

The software program listens for words like dynamite, bomb, hijack and nuke, plus related words like C-4 (a type of explosive), detonator, cockpit and radioactive. It listens for these and many other words in lots of languages. It pays attention to foreign area codes, even specific foreign phone numbers. When our spy guys have recordings of the voices of known terrorists, the computers probably look for those, too. There's a whole list of things like these that the computers look for...

Ummm...the answer is still "no." The leader of the free world doesn't have time to listen to your terrorist conversations. That's why we have the NSA and other intelligence-gathering services.

The President is at home in bed. NSA may be listening, but Pres. Bush isn't.

Whenever I call people in Saudi Arabia, speak arabic and use the Arabic phrase for "bomb those American pigs", he is right there listening in.

I'm surprised they didn't include a picture of Bush with his IPOD Headphones on

Well as Kathleen Parker wrote this week... unless I start placing calls to Peshawar using phrases such as "I want my 72 virgins now," then I figure I'm safe to make my next hair appointment without fear of exposure.

Is George Bush Listening in on Your Phone Line?

That would explain the whispered "Extra pepperoni" I heard when I ordered a pizza the other night...

From the excerpt, it seems that this article is making it clear that government is correctly and prudentially screening calls with computer software so that every day conversations are NOT monitored. Its good that people understand that BUsh is doing a GOOD thing.

This is an excellent article. Thanks for sharing it! The writer spells out the truth that many of us know in a way most folks can understand.

He has faith that the American people are smart enough to figure out the Dems desperation and not fall for their lies. I share his faith in the American people.

God help us all if we let him down.

Now you've done it! You know "they" read everything we say (looking around in a paranoid manner). "They" are scurrying around to change tomorrow's "top of the fold" picture at the NYT! LOL

"Its good that people understand that BUsh is doing a GOOD thing."

Yeah it seems that the Democrats are screaming "how dare the President do such nasty things as keep the American public safe."

It's going to be interesting at the least watching them try to sell this package to the public.

It would be great if he would listen into my phone calls. He certainly doesn't pay attention to what people write in to him about so why would he ever tune into our phones? "Hey George, listen in, Please."

Kinda long but it's a good read. He sounds like he knows the subject and makes a reasonable case in defense of the president. Good post.

Personally, I hope he has been listening, and if he is, can somebody check to see if he wrote down any of my messages because my damn kids NEVER give me my messages and if they do they never write the call back numbers down write. I could really use the help.

As a practical joke the NSA needs to record in GWB's voice something like "O Lord [audible yawn], how boring" and then to inject it in a few suspicious phone conversations, to throw the MSM types off balance. GWB himself might be the first to laugh at it.

"Is George Bush Listening in on Your Phone Line?"

Well, let me see. It is 2:30am on New Year's day, I just finished giving all of my drunk friends a ride home, and I don't drink- so my friends had way more fun than I did. I am now surfing the internet, at this ungodly hour. I will be up in about 5 hours to go to church on New Year's day.

My life is too dull for anyone, especially the President, to be listening in on. My life is so boring, that I cannot even get my own cat to listen to me- why would the President show any interest???

I gotta say, what totally amazes me about all of this- no one ever complains anymore about big brother watching anymore. Video cameras are everywhere, recording our every move. We are even video taped while sitting in our cars at a red light, in the bathroom at a local restuarant, everywhere you can think of- we are being watched. Most people, are not shocked by this. We all understand that it is for safety reasons.

I was in England when the Clinton hearings and trial were being conducted so only got biased media reports.

Would appreciate it if someone would please explain what the author meant by this:

"Clinton himself was convicted of perjury (THE OFFENSE THE DEMOCRATS IN THE SENATE FAILED TO UPHOLD) by a federal judge,"

Thankyou.
