Just a heads up for those of us who have discussed this...
whoops thats return. I'm typing sideways on my keyboard.
She strikes me as completely sincere and you get the sense that she really did get the big wake-up call, I'm glad to have her on the good side, (in such a public way)
She does seemed to have changed, doesn't she? I wish they had given her more time.
so she ditched the Vampirella thing eh?
Does that mean she believes that vampires are intelligently designed?
I have her new book on order. I'm really excited about listening to it. Right now I'm listening to Thomas Cahill read The Desire of the Everlasting Hills which is about Jesus. It's really wonderful.
Anyone who believes that, stand on your head . . .
Sometimes people really do change. The primary example is St. Paul.
Apparently her book is not anti-Christian, and I welcome her back to the church.
"...this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." Luke 15:32
It's certainly possible for people to have an epiphany. I would think that the wrath of a storm barring down on your home town, laying waste to just about everything in it's path would have 2 effects: it would make you blame God or it would make you turn to God.
Since Ms. Rice was, more or less, a pagan and now she is professing to have found God, I applaud her. Let her not be judged by us. God will. And God will know her heart.
Not really our problem.
P.S. There can be hardly an argument that 1) she writes fantastic (both in the literal and figurative sense) prose and 2) she is one of the most prolific writers of our time.
That wouldn't be bad to have her writing about the One true way. Wouldn't you agree?
I'm not judging her, I'm just skeptical. Is she converted, or is she tapping into the "God" market?
It's interesting that when people get closer to death their faith in Jesus gets better .... I'm glad I started out earlier .... but then, it's all about the workers in the vineyard .... it doesn't matter when .....
One suspects that she didn't want to get "Left Behind."
If she is tapping into the God market, the she will be cast into hell. So, it's here gig. That's what free will is. We will all stand account.
The vampire stuff was fine at first, and I'm not at all partial to that sort of thing. Likewise her "Cry To Heaven." First-rate. And "Feast of All Saints." Then she exhausted the theme, had nothing new to say about marginal and alienated people...but she kept writing, can't imagine why ;)
Let's hope she has herself a creative renewal along with the spiritual epiphany.
That is precisely what she is doing. She's made a fortune off of things satanic/vampiric. The opposite side of the coin is now in her sights.
Everyone in New Orleans knows this woman is a serious head-case. Now- BLAMMO!- she's converted?
Right!
Anyone who believes that, I can sell you several houses in Lakeview and the 9th ward. All dry and everything...
You got it. If you agree with Him for the day, it don't matter when in the day you came along..
Maybe she converted, maybe she didn't. Maybe you're a jerk, maybe you aren't.. so hard to tell these things sometimes, isn't it..
Anne Rice is writing a book about Jesus growing up in Egypt. IF she is truly committed to the faith, she would do a little more research before propogating more nonsense about Jesus and Egypt. Please read below:
31 days after birth, the time came for Mary and Jesus to be presented at the temple in Jerusalem for the purification service. Jesus had to be presented, like all new babies, to be 'paid for'. This was a way of recognising that the baby was a gift from God and really belonged to him, so the parents had to symbolically 'buy back' the baby from God. The amount that had to be paid for a baby was about 60 grams of silver.
Mary had to go to the temple to be symbolically made clean and pure for the blood that she had lost when she gave birth. To be made pure, a dove or other bird had to be sacrificed; and to be made clean, a lamb to be sacrificed. However, if you were poor, a dove could be sacrificed instead of a lamb. That is why a pair of doves or pigeons were sacrificed.
When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple for the purification service, he was welcomed and nursed by two very old people. Many of the Jews were eagerly awaiting a mighty and magnificent king, who would lead the people to glorious victory against their enemies. But there were others looking for a just and godly Messiah. They were known as the 'Quiet in the Land', for they spent their days in prayer and worship of God, waiting patiently for the day when he would send his chosen Saviour to earth. Simeon and Anna were two of the Quiet in the Land. They had waited many years to see God's promised Messiah. As soon as they saw the baby Jesus they recognised him as God's Deliverer and knew that their dreams were fulfilled.
