In a powerful personal story, NOVA interviews a 19-year-old Kenyan woman who suffers from AIDS. Her parents have died, and she is raising her four brothers and sisters as well as a nephew. Like many teenage girls in Africa, she is a victim of predatory sexual behavior by an older male, through whom she contracted HIV. Funding cuts in family planning assistance from the United States are putting many young women at risk for unwanted pregnancies, HIV infection, and illegal backstreet abortions.

I always thought AIDS was caused by the HIV virus.
Silly me.

Please excuse my ignorance, but hasn't the Bush administration thrown money like a drunken sailor at AIDS? Do you think this same story would have been told, if the Rapist in Chief were still El-Supremo?

Typical leftwing racism. The assumption is that blacks are incapable of helping themselves, so when they get in trouble it's the fault of others for not solving their problems.
To: grundle
ROFLLL!
silly all of us!
amazing....forget the cause-- just throw money and the problem should disappear, right? LOL!
Taking money from the hardworking people who DON'T live irresponsibly fixes ALL the world's ails.....
pathetic...

Now that I know of this latest commitment, I shall contact my Congressman immediately to insure that this debt is paid on time!

since it has been calculated that if all the world's people had an American standard of living, two more planets the size of Earth would be needed to support themNo problem, if we get off our butt and go into space.

I fail to see out it is the US's fault this poor young woman has Aids. What about her gov't? It's bad enough all of the illegals get free medical here, now we have to provide it to anyone in the world who can't afford it or who's gov't doesn't provide the necessary care. The world doesn't want us to be the police force, but they sure do want our money and resources.
To: Millicent_Hornswaggle
Besides, PBS is a waste of time and money, not to mention breath.
