A bowler collapsed and died at a bowling alley shortly after rolling the third perfect game of his life.
Ed Lorenz, 69, bowled a 300 on Wednesday in his first league game of the night at Airway Lanes. When the retiree got up to bowl in the fifth frame of his second game, he clutched his chest and fell over, and efforts to revive him failed. The cause of death wasn't immediately known.
"If he could have written a way to go out, this would be it," said Johnny D Masters, who was bowling with Lorenz.

I think my all-time high was a 183 and that was years ago.
KING OF THE WORLD MA...AAAAAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!
This is the reason that I stridently strive for mediocrity.
This family friend did one of the best rounds ever on the golf course, then came home and died.
Well, after you bowl a 300, where else do you go? The man went out on top.
/salute
Everybody's gotta do it sometime.
I used to bowl about two or three times a year. One night I bowled 9 strikes in a row across two separate games. Ended up with 235 in one of them.
What a wierd deal. I guess he got overexcited by his perfect game and triggered a heart attack. Sad.
Does this mean he doesn't need to bowl in purgatory? (having acheived perfection in this eartly life...)
Bing Crosby died on the gold course after playing a round.
And are consistently successful
He died after seeing a newlywed bride and a dolphin bowling in another lane...
I bowled a 200 game once...and believe me it was a complete fluke. I am not much of a bowler and haven't come close since.
Not really. I'm only middlin' kinda halfway successful at it.
I bowled a 199 on my Nokia cell phone. THe best I can do at a real alley is 150.
I bowled a 117 on Monday. I bowl all the time. I need a lighter ball.
When I used to bowl, I'd score 130 to 160, usually. After not bowling for many years, a few years ago, I rolled a 204 right out of the box. Surprised the heck outa me. I was never that good.
Similar thing happened in golf years ago. One night at the range, I could suddenly make the ball do WHATEVER I wanted. A little fade, a slight draw. I could control it, with great distance and precision. It was like, I AM THE KING OF THE WORLD.
The next morning, I shot a round. Couldn't find the fairway, couldn't hit the ball worth a hoot. Topped it, duck-hooked it, sliced it bad. Less than 12 hours between events. Go figure.
Well... not to undermine the 300... but, from 300 games, you start shooting for 900 series.
