A 14-year-old boy died and four other teens were seriously injured early Thursday in Flower Mound when their pickup crashed into a tree and burst into flames.
Flower Mound police Officer Paul Boon said the preliminary investigation shows that the 1994 Ford Ranger was westbound in the 3700 block of Flower Mound Road, just east of Furlong Drive, when the driver lost control and slammed into a tree.
When firefighters and police arrived about 3:10 a.m., they found the vehicle engulfed in flames, he said.
Michael Ryan, Flower Mound's director of community affairs, said two boys, ages 14 and 15, both in critical condition, and a 14-year-old girl in stable condition were transported by helicopter to Parkland Memorial Hospital. I did a lot of things at 14/15 that my parents did not know about...it happens...
While this is probably true, parents should still be held accountable for the actions of their minor children. I understand perfectly that even kids with model parents do, on occasion, get into trouble, the vast majority of kids causing trouble have parents who are not paying nearly enough attention to what they're doing. susie
3 teen boys, two teen girls..what do YOU think they were up to at 3am? Sad & stupid accident...
>>>Although asking where the parents are is a good question, I will hold judgment until the facts are in. Kids have been know to sneak out of the house on occasion. I had very strict parents (father a former Marine) and my brother still did it.>>>
Yeah, even I reminisce (how the heck do you spell that word?) with that new Nickleback song "the second floor was hard for sneaking out". But fully intend to kick major hiney if any of my three girls try it. Unfortunately, you can't do anything until you find them, or you get the phone call that these parents got.
Sad for the family.
I was appaled when my son at thirty told me how often he snuck out of his bedroom window at night when he was a teen!
yup.
thought we had our house locked down and my daughter found a way to sneak in & out her 2nd floor bedroom.
We finally had a security system installed and put contacts on her window. She still tried to disable it but was unsuccessful. Parenting is tough work.
Sad for the family in the article.
Yes it does unfortunately but it is still awful. Just awful
