The answer to this question of "who foots the bill?" is not a simple one,

Yes it is. Americans pay the bill. Not illegals.

California is a very poor example to point to for ANY state dealing with ANY fiscal problems,

It's a good example of a state that has a lot of illegal aliens. It's a good example of what happens to a state when they are infested with illegals.

I really don't think you are one to complain about a post to the mods. You stand your ground well even if I think it is quick sand. Living in Colorado we are and have been part of "ground zero" on illegal immigration. Our schools are suffering and hospital emergency rooms in Denver, Greeley, Colorado Springs, Ft Collins and Trinidad will testify to the cost of indigent and primarily hispanic health care. I do not know the statistics on incarcerated illegal Mexican citizens in our prison system. I will research it and post later. I do know one thing. It has to stop. If we have to go to some of the largest employers in the state and shut em down for a week or two so be it. The meat packing industry in this state is one of the biggest violators in the nation. We can not afford their cheap labor!!! You take away the carrot and the illegals will leave. These jobs were at one time done by local citizens at a decent wage. The illegals were used to break the Union and cut wages in half. Benefits of course followed the original workers out the door. The cost of medical services was placed on the local tax-payer and those who have insurance. There is no free lunch or medical service. Costs are paid by those who have insurance. It is sad that we have come this far but I have to blame the last "amnesty" during the Reagan years. We have never recovered. It is going to be like an "amputation" to correct the situation. But it has to be done.

"Wrong issue here, wrong thread."

What are you - the thread police?

Frankly, I find your support of illegal activity disgusting. If the WSJ wants more immigration into this country, they and their Fortune 500 buddies can go to Congress and increase the current ceiling on LEGAL immigration.

I also dislike your insults and namecalling (xenophobe), but I guess its all part of your strategy to disrupt any intelligent discussion of illegal immmigration and its support by the Business community in pursuit of MONEY.

People all over the world live in gated communities. Travel through any SA city. Donald Trup has Trump Tower gated (by security and cameras and personnel - simply another form of gate). Frankly anything that will keep illegal aliens out of the US would be appreciated. Not to mention keeping out drug runners, white slavers, and Islamo-Fascist terrorists. Whether you ring the border with men or cement, just make it secure.

There seems to be no problem with aiding the Dominican Republic with their wall/barrier.

Or South Korea's or anybody else's, it's just one in the US they seem to have a problem with.

"Yes it is. Americans pay the bill. Not illegals "You argue like a Muslim. Stating a position is not the same thing as defending it.

It's a process of elimination. We know that illegals don't pay taxes, they collect taxes in the form of earned income credits. The don't own property, so they don't pay property taxes, and the sales taxes they pay are minimal because they send their money back to Mexico.

Who else is left to pay the taxes, Norwegians?

Americans pay the tax bill.

Man, I bet you set the scale for your logic class in college, didn't you?

Why don't you try to use logic and reason in your debate? Sarcasm isn't much to work with, so I'll restate my argument.

I'm saying that one of the reasons California has fiscal problems is because they are burdened with a large population of illegals who use public services that they aren't paying for and because they are helping to elect socialist politicians.

For those that can afford health care. If you slip on the ice and split your elbow open, the bill for the emergency room to stitch you up will be 850 bucks. And that's before you get the bill for the x-rays.

...the net loss to taxpayers exceeds the net "gain." I am quite sincere here when I ask for studies that many have cited but never linked that document these charges...

I'd link it for you but it is difficult to do on my Treo. Google "Willing Workers" + Cato and you will get the study used by the Bush Administration and the OBL. On page 14 it concedes that each new illegal costs the taxpayer a net $89,000.

So now you know.

If you haven't been on many illegal immigration threads in the past, you may not have seen this thread.

Yes, I have been on many illegal immigration threads in the past. Usually, any suggestion that may have a positive outcome for illegals draws a great deal of activity, sometimes of a very personal nature.

The desired ordered immigration outcomes

The methods to achieve the outcomes

Other outcomes and methods or the order of importance can be debated, but xenophobia is foolish.

A race-baiting liberal couldn't have said it better.

"The hard line of mass forced deportation would cause Republican to lose the White House, House of Representatives, the Senate, and all keys to the Washrooms. It is a loser for Republican leadership of the nation,..."

If you're still talking about, "The hard line of mass forced deportation...", then you didn't read

They Will Deport Themselves

What polls are you looking at that have you jumping to the conclusion that Hispanics, legally in this country, would vote against Republicans for motivating illegal aliens to return home and stay home by enforcing our existing laws?

Please cite your sources.

Did you see my post #128? I'd like to know what you think of my opinions on why any guestworker program should truly be TEMPORARY. Maybe you will agree. Either way, I'd like to know.

The Mexican border wall is a loser of an issue - I regret and lament that this has the GOP brand on it in any way.
