Consuelo Callahan: Why was Schumer for a conservative? (Vanity)
December 28, 2005

Novak reported that Callahan of the 9th Circuit was the finalist when Bush picked Miers.

Schumer recommended her saying she was a moderate. But if you follow her recent rulings she is very pro second amendment, against affirmative action. She seems like the dream candidate. Her record is one of a great conservative.

Why would Schumer be for her? Why were some conservatives saying she wasn't ideal even though her record suggests otherwise.

Bush reportedly told the senators she was his pick.

I read afterwards that their were some personal issues with some of the female candidates. That is the only thing I can think of.

Looking at her record she would have been a conservative legend. A female hispanic that takes on the liberals would have been a dream candidate. And Schumer would have been duped to add icing on the cake.

If Bush ever gets another supreme court pick she should be at the top of the list.

Janice Rogers Brown is still the dream candidate.

The 9th Circus? Are there any good jurists in that neck of the woods?

Anybody Schumer for is suspect.

How soon we forget:

The Dancing Queen of the Ninth Circuit (Judge Consuela M. Callahan a tap dancer)

Posted on 09/21/2005 10:16:27 PM EDT by churchillbuff

A hoofer with a sense of humor, Callahan likes to surprise judicial and legal gatherings by starting discussions about serious topics and ending with a quip about appellate judges who tap dance around issues. She then pulls off her black robe to reveal a sequined costume and tap shoes.

She's been known to hop on a tabletop or in one case on a judicial bench during these special events and do some pretty impressive steps. "I may be the highest ranking tap dancer in federal court," Callahan said with a grin during a recent interview in her chambers in the Sacramento federal court building. "It is fun and it has a certain shock value."

Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees

(Snip)

CANON 3:

C. A judicial employee should be patient, dignified, respectful, and courteous to all persons with whom the judicial employee deals in an official capacity, including the general public, and should require similar conduct of personnel subject to the judicial employee's direction and control. The Ninth Circuit Circus Court of Appeal should be abolished.

She is not conservative. She is like John McCain.

You're absolutely right, she is a liberal in Conservative's clothes. Consuelo Callahan would end up like another "dream candidate" (as per Warren Rudman and John Sununu, Sr.):David Souter!
