Yep, there are a few southerners who are RINOs, but for every one you find, I'll show you ten nor'easters.

Something for FReepers to ponder.

ACU (Conservative) Ratings:

1. Sen. Lincoln Chafee 41
2. Sen. Olympia Snowe 51
3. Sen. Arlen Specter 44
4. Sen. Susan Collins 57
5. Rep. Christopher Shays 48
7. Rep. Sherwood Boehlert 40
9. Rep. Michael Castle 59
10. Rep. Jim Leach 43

Sen. John McCain 83

John McCain maybe a mavarick Republican, who disagrees with PresBush on occasion, but he is no RINO. I'm no fan of McCain, but the fact is, the Arizona Senator is about as conservative as Bush43.

McCain could conceivably become a huge problem if things go wrong for us in 08. He could be a top contender for the ticket. But, I think we will be strong enough to keep him off.

I would think some organization other than the "ACLU" would be a better choice to show a rating from.

McCain is to Republicans as "Crazy Uncle Charlie" is to the rest of the family. He has the same moniker but we would be happier if he was someone else's "Crazy Uncle Charlie."

As has been pointed out, Jesse Ventura was neither a Republican nor a Democrat, he was something else (pun intended).

I remember seeing him on Chris Matthews (who LOVES him, such a pair!). Jesse wiped a tear from his eye and remarked 'it just me and the little people'.

What a maroon. What a moron. What a jerk. I could go on, but you get the point.

I wouldn't expect to see my two Senators...

Actually, I was surprised NOT to see your two SINators on the list. I am sure there are other "members" or at the least, behind the scenes enablers.

Open your eyes. That was the ACU, the American Conservative Union, not the ACLU. Silly.

Wow! And here I thought that the Republicans had been hijacked by the extreme right.

McCain is not on the list because he is a hawk on defense and has a very consistent pro-life voting record.

McCain is a maverick, to be sure, and I wouldn't vote for him to be dog-catcher, but he is not the RINO type as typified in this compilation.

"John McCain should of topped the list."

I agree since it was his so-called campaign reform that effectively eviserated the 1st amendment.

"Also advocated “pay-as-you-go” tax cuts with spending increases in 2004"

How is advocating PAY AS YOU GO Taxcuts AND turning around an advocating SPENDING INCREASES even remotely thought of as being "an old timey way to be conservative"? Reagan's plan was cut taxes AND spending, not Cut Taxes as long as we can figure a way to "pay for the taxcuts" AND increase spending.

The RINO label is wearing thin for me

Or course it does. Your screen name indicates you are a Democrat so you LOVE RINOS. Love people who surrender their principals and joins in advancing your rabid Hate America Always Party's agenda.

We would prefer that the gutless wonders quit lying and simply switch parties. They are all gung ho to take Republican money and Republican aid to get elected then turn around and join the Democrat party in DC. Sorry we would prefer that all you pretend Republicans actually QUIT lying and be the Democrat Party Loyalists you all clearly really. If you are so rabidly afraid of ACTUALLY ADVANCING the Republican Agenda, you have NO business being in our party just for your own political agrandizement.

Of course you gutless pretend Republican wonders will never do that since you know the Dems are going to lose. Ah here, instead of RINOS how about we call you what you ARE Psuedo Republicans?

Hey Look it is the local Democrat Party Activist XRP. Hey XRP please quit insulting us with this pretense that you are anything but a rabid Moveon.org Democrat. You cover is blown every-time you post. So which Moveon.org seminar on "infiltrating Conservative Websites" did you attend? Was it the one hosted by Mobey or the one Mike Moore hosted?

Campaign Fiance Reform, the Kennedy/McCain Border bill and the Torture Amendment. Sorry but the ranking you posted from Pat Buchannan's group is WAY WAY WAY out of date with reality.

Curious how they dreamed up this wacko measurement system? Guess they are all just willing to over look the fact that despite all of McCain's TALK, McCain has actually done NOTHING even remotely Conservative in the last 5 years.

McCain is not a "maverick" he is an out and out traitor to the Conservative Movement. Time for the Dinosaur Conservatives to look beyond his military service and actually LOOK at what he is doing in DC. McCain is the WORSE sort of RINO. One that doesn't just sign onto the Democrat Agenda but is actively working to EXPAND it.

May I add both Senators Voinovich and DeWine of Ohio.

I'm a Buckeye who agrees.
