McCain is certainly King of the RINOs but his nuttiness is less about ideology than ego. He isn't in favor of anything other than "John McCain".

The RINO label is wearing thin for me. Sometimes it seems like a legislator has two choices: stop thinking for himself and slavishly obey the party powers or be labelled a RINO.

There is a big difference between a Republican who may differ from the official partyline on some, even veryimportant, issues (like for example, sen. Craig on Patriot Act, or Barry Goldwater on abortion) and a RINO who either votes against everything conservatives support (like Chafee or old-school mega-RINOs, like Javits or Brooke) or usually votes with conservatives but apart from that does everything to help the Democrats (like McRino).

The guy running against Chaffee next year sounds good. He was the Mayor of Cranston, I believe. Conservative businessman. Lked what I heard on Jerry Doyle's show.

His apparent switches make him much more dangerous because we expect nothing from Spectre and similar cads while McCain still fools some conservatives. I'm sorry the recall effort against McCain stalled. Who would guess that Arizona has a good, reasonable, hard-working conservative senator, Kyl? The media does not seem to know about him.

Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, New Jersey--This gun-hating moron would be on my RINO list

I thought Frank LoBiondo was conservative though, but apparently he's a member of the Mainstreet group :(

Jesse "The A**wipe" Ventura was a bloviating, self-absorbed buffoon of a governor. His election was (and remains) a fluke.

Jesse Ventura was all about whatever was good for Jesse - and Jesse only. He had the attention span of a puppy on methamphetamine.

His shtick got old about 1 year in office. About the only thing the Democrats and Republicans in the Legislature could agree on was to over-ride as many of his vetoes as possible.

Yes, they do.

Honestly, and unfortunately, in states like Ohio, the only kind of Republican who can win statewide is a RINO.

Thanks for the link to republicanmainstreet. I'll look at it later.

I wouldn't expect to see my two Senators, but I was surprised to see my congressman (Hobson). My last letter I got from him made me question his honesty about the so-called defunding to the "bridge to nowhere". I suppose I'll have to research it myself.

"When your RINO runs for re-election, does his or her RAT opponent try to paint said RINO as a right-wing wacko extremist Christian fundamentalist Bush-bot who wants to pollute the air, poison the water, starve schoolchildren and freeze old folk?"

Well I live under RAT rule unfortunately :(

But the answer is yes, whenever a RINO challenges the incumbent RAT.

I never studied him or his time in office. I didn't know he vetoed so much. Wonder if the Governor of California is taking a page from Jesse's secret play book. Arnold seems to get people feeling good and riled at the same time. Much alike your past Governor and California's current one.
