Just wondering, besides going around FISA during the investigation of Aldrich Ames, did the Clinton Administration go around FISA during the investigation and deportation of Elian Gonzales?

I don't even know what FISA is/was.
But, as a South FLoridian, I am and was well acquainted with the Elian Gonzalez story/tragedy.

I am From Miami ,went thru it all at the time it happened,
was part of Demonstrations in Front of house.
Wouldnt be surprised if Clinton ordered some kind of surveillance to be able to Get to the Lawyers while they were on phone with his cronies.

I wondered about that along with Waco and Ruby Ridge.

It is the requirement that you go through a court to get wiretaps & gather intellegence--the big wiretap fiasco now in play regarding the Bush administration.
The MSM is saying that only Bush went around the courts in gathering intellegance on people on American soil.
We already know that Clinton did it, too, when investigating Aldrich Ames.
Now I'm wondering if they did it with Elian Gonzales, too.
I know they took him from his home without a warrent. I'm wondering if they stated they could due to the same legal standing that the Bush administration is using.
If so, this would be very, very big.

Very good point about Waco and Ruby Ridge.
But I do know for a fact that they had no jurisdictional warrant when they kidnapped Elian. My guess is that they spied on those folks, first, without court authorization.
Anyone know?

IIRC, Waco was bugged because of trumped up child abuse charges (Janet Rhino's favorite tactic) and weapons charges.
Certainly worth burning 83 people alive, don'tcha think? /s

With regard to Ruby Ridge, you would have to ask the first Bush administration about that.

How would anyone here know that? This is not NEWS, it's a vanity, and not a very well thought-out one.
I don't think there are any Freepers who were that close to the inner workings of the Clinton administration. Think!

There were hearings after the fact. I am guessing that the legal justification for the entire fiasco has to be stated somewhere.
(ps, did you notice the "Vanity" in the title?)

Since Elian's kidnapping on April 22, 2000 how much time
do you suppose he has spent with his father? I believe that Cuban children are raised by the state- at boarding schools. They spend holidays/vacations with their parents.

I did. I also noticed that you clicked a NEWS topic when you posted this. Vanity questions are not news. The Moderator has removed the topics from this post.

I have no idea. I haven't followed the story. What does that have to do with the wiretap question?

The events sound very Clintonesque, but Ruby Ridge happened late in the George Herbert Walker Bush administration.
