New England Patriots at New York Jets
no points out of it, but 2 TD lead at the half
Like many MNF games lately the ratings on the east coast will now drop like a rock.
I doubt the Patriot starters will see time in the 4th quarter.
The unwillingness for the NFL to play the game the way that it is played in December and January sucks.
To me that's just focus or lackthereof.
I'd normally not give a damn and agree with you.
But I just attended the funeral of my best friend, Sally Kingsbury on Tues, Dec. 20th. Her youngest son, Kliff Kingsbury (of Texas Tech fame) is now with the NY Jets and is backing up QB, Brooks Bollinger.
Kliff has been floating around the NFL for about two years now waiting for his "break". He first signed with the Patriots (got a Super Bowl ring), then New Orleans Saints (got waived the weekend Katrina hit - lucky him), Denver picked him up for less than a month and then the Jets signed him. Kliff's pecking order changed as injuries hampered other QB's on the Jet's roster.
As all QB's who are waiting in the wings for their chance, Kliff just wants an opportunity to prove himself. I can almost hear his mother, my friend, Sally, cheering him on, urging him not to give up his dream.
This last week has been especially hard losing Sally on Dec. 16th. Over 1,300 people attended her funeral in New Braunfels, TX. God broke the mold when he made Sally and she is someone who will never be forgotten to those who knew her. I'm sure Kliff has had a tough Christmas, but is fighting through his pain using his legendary hard work ethic.
Everyone who knows the guy is pulling for him, especially now.....
Go Patriots!
Here's one to forget: O.J. Simpson
LOL! I just wanted to be the only one to post that name on the Monday Night Football thread. You won't see his mug on ABC tonight. Hehehehehe.
Damn!
Was that Lootergal?
Didn't ABC try a 7:30 Central start time one year and have it flop?
But, being a diehard Skins fan I can't say that.
I'll take a Jets win; it removes one more roadblock from Reggie Bush in the Green and Gold :-)
For your friend's sake, I'll root for the Jets then. And afterward, hope he gets traded and a chance to play for a team in flyover country.
Yes they did. I think the reason it did was because the games stunk that season.
They did try one season of 7:00 CT starts. I believe the season flopped because of the bangup booth of Al Michaels and Boomer Esiason.
"...But, being a diehard Skins fan I can't say that...."
Oh, sure you can. To deny the obvious is highly illogical.
A fan runs into the Steelers' backfield during the fourth quarter of their game with the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 24, 2005.
---
He heads toward Pittsburgh running back Verron Haynes, who's able to move out of the way.
---
Taking a stiff shove from Cleveland linebacker Kenard Lang, the fan stumbles back a few yards
---
... and his pants start falling down.
---
He pulls them up and starts celebrating, but while that's happening ...
---
James Harrison comes in from behind...
---
snatches him into the air...
---
and takes him down the hard way.
---
Police quickly arrive, making it a less-than-festive Christmas Eve for this guy.
Is there someplace that has the video?
