DETROIT -- A former state housing official has been accused of stealing more than $1 million from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
LaToya Cotton, 45, faces a charge of theft from a federally funded program, according to documents filed last week in U.S. District Court in Detroit. Cotton worked in Washtenaw County with candidates for low-income housing assistance.

Hard to comment on this without being called a racist. My Mother had a pretty trenchant saying about this sort of thing, but I can't repeat it.
Low income in Washtenaw? Must be rat pockets of ulra-blue Ann Arbor (Ypsi) where liberals create their usual poverty.

The charging documents filed Monday also indicate that authorities intend to seize Cotton's home as property obtained through the proceeds she embezzled. Property records show Cotton purchased the 5,237-square-foot home in April 2004 for $830,000.
