At age 64, the toll of another long season has Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells privately contemplating a final retirement -- even as team owner Jerry Jones is urging the coach to sign a contract extension.
Sources tell ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the death of Parcells' brother at midseason is one of the events that has triggered the coach's thoughts of retirement.
If Parcells stays in Dallas, it's because he truly likes the team he has assembled, even though his work is not complete.

He's finding it's pretty tough going without Belichick running his defense.

It's too bad there wasn't another NFL game tonight. This Nevada-UCF game is pretty good though.

I listened to his press conference the other day and he has truly changed. When they went 10-6 he was very tough, very stern. Now,he sounds like his head isn't in the game and he rambles.
However, once this season is over and if he can keep this team together his ego will keep him Dallas.
I have to give Julius Jones credit today. I also have to give that Offensive line credit and Bledsoe credit. They played well today.
Unfortunately, the games against Washington and Seattle, are going to define this season.
I want him back if he can keep his head in the game, if not, then off to Canton he goes.

I seem to remember this "retirement" talk awhile ago. After the season ends he will asses the situation...I don't know what he will do, I think he should return , he has started the job and needs to finish it.

I talked to a friend of mine tonight who's a sports reporter for one of the affiliates in Reno. The station decided to go cheap and didn't send a team to cover the game. It wasn't a popular decision.

We'll have the Giants-Raiders this time next week.

The TV coverage is funny, notice the close angle video shots? There is hardly anyone there. Whenever they show the players on the sidelines , its a tight shot....

He'd really hate to leave Dallas without a post season win.
