I know... twins separated at birth.

Looks like Mel made another successful movie.

Merry Christmas, Karen.

A few years ago I took my then-14-year-old daughter into our little town to watch Mel and M. Night filming scenes for 'Signs'. Knowing my way around (and a few alleys) we were able to walk right up and watch from the sidewalk, about 15 yards from Mel's canopy. It was one of those little things she'll never forget. Mel Gibson is one of the great movie makers of our era, imo.

Mel is officially "off the Hollywood plantation."

Actually, it's the Hollywood scumbags who are off of Mel's plantation.

There is no onus on me. The existence of Augustinian-era shipwrecks in the New World is a documented FACT. What we don't know is why the ships were there or if any of the Romans ever returned to Europe.

Suppressed is the wrong word. The shipwrecks were either intentionally or unintentionally covered by silt after discovery. Why this happened is opened to discussion. But the fact that they exist is not.

OMG did Saddam Hussain escape??

If he did, the Democrats would make him head of the DNC.

After all, he's got their talking points down.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

.....with a quote from the historian Will Durant. "A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within,” .....

Any movie with a quote from Will has to be magnifincant

i think Mel is about to put on a clinic on how great movies can be.

given hollywood's proven technical movie making prowess, it is really a sad commentary that i've seen french movies lately that are more interesting and exciting to watch than the predictable shyte overflowing from the sewer called hollywood.

there are *SO MANY* fabulous stories to be told, and hollywood gives us lame homo cowboy movies or remakes of already lame 1970's sitcoms.

the "dukes of hazard", "charly's angels" were lame but quaint on TV, but when hollywood gets their disease bearing hands on them they turn into drek...

the hollywood idiots should pay more attention to Mel, he could lead them out of their death spiral, fortunately they won't listen...

i don't think the mayans actually practiced human sacrifice, at least not frequently.

you are thinking about the Aztecs, which did the sacrifice bit on a huge scale, hundreds or even thousands having their hearts ripped out (often willingly) during certain religious festivals...

Oops! Thanks for clearing that up.

Gibson's newest movie is really an allegory on the barbarianism of post-modern PC societies. For that reason alone, the libs will hate it. But he doesn't give a damn what they think.

Apparently the Mayans made blood sacrifices, cutting themselves and bleeding on the altar. Priests and nobles, especially were expected to do this.

But they also seem to have made human sacrifices when the gods demanded it. One ritual was to cut the heart out of a victim at the top of a pyramid when the ritual called for it. I don't know how frequently that was done.

Here's a brief summary, for what it's worth:

What did Mayan music sound like?

Very bland, but still surprisingly popular. The technical name is Mayanaise. (pronounced phonetically).

Here's a brief summary

Yikes! Should we include some Mayan human sacrifice songs in next year's "Holiday Concert"?
