I'll bet there'll be plenty of Ali's and Mohammed's in that pool of persons.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Four men, including two brothers, were taken into custody Friday by federal authorities in connection with the theft of 400 pounds of explosives from a storage depot southwest of Albuquerque.

The explosives were reported stolen Sunday from Cherry Engineering’s storage depot eight miles southwest of New Mexico’s largest city. Federal authorities have said it was enough to flatten a large building.

The men, whose names were not immediately released, all face federal charges, including possession of stolen explosives.

Three of the arrests were made in Bloomfield, in the northwest corner of the state, and the other was made in Ignacio, Colo., said Tom Mangan, a spokesman for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Federal authorities were processing a crime scene in a remote area of New Mexico, but Mangan did not release any details.

Stolen were 150 pounds of C-4, 250 pounds of sheet explosives, 20,000 feet of detonator cord and 2,500 blasting caps.

Investigators have said there was no evidence to suggest a link to terrorism. .... yeah, right!

Wonder if it is somehow associated with this???

Albuquerque, NM -- A federal agent says a load of stolen explosives could be devastating if "in the hands of the right people and they knew how to use it."

Officials in New Mexico say several hundred pounds of high explosives are missing from a private storage site. About 2,500 blasting caps and an undisclosed length of explosive detonation cord are also missing.

Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz says investigators haven't figured out yet when the explosives were taken or exactly how much is missing.

An agent at the local office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms says it's enough to level a building.

The ATF agent says there's no evidence to suggest a link to terrorism. But, he says there are no leads or suspects.

Cherry Engineering reported the materials missing Sunday. Company officials are cooperating with investigators.

It doesn't say that they recovered the stolen explosives.

Don't bet too much on it.

My first thought when the heist was reported was
"inside job" (ex-employee, ex-customer, ex-supplier, etc.)

Who knew the stuff was there, knew how secured, knew
there was no/or defeatable surveillance, so as to prepare
the necessary breaching tools and tactics.

The pawn shops in those areas of New Mexico probably pay higher prices for such items. That, or they have some real unruly stumps in those parts, requiring, obviously, real take-down power.

Good points. I guess there are others who want explosives for their own reasons.

No way. If they are the FBI will keep looking until they can find a suitable white supremicist stool pidgeon.

Could be the thieves have a small mining operation somewhere, turquoise or malachite or something, and were going to use the explosives to expand the biz.

It does not need to be terrorism, explosives are expensive.

The men, whose names were not immediately released

Wonder why not?

Probably the James brothers with alias Smith and Jones: Achmed James, Habib James, Mohammad Smith, and Ibrihaim Jones.
