I know that many of you have seen the recent news report on our trip to Colorado. Let me begin by saying that I have received so many of your emails and notes encouraging me and expressing your love and support. Each one of you means so much to me and I love you all dearly.
Regardless of how some have portrayed the situation, please know that it was truly a minor misunderstanding and did not escalate into what you saw or read in the news. Contrary to those reports it was my choice to remove myself from the situation. Nonetheless, it was a most unfortunate event and I truly regret that it happened.
The last thing I would ever want to do is let any of you down. And I promise you that I did not act in any way that would cast a bad light on you, my family, Lakewood Church or our Lord Jesus Christ. I value the position that God has placed me in and I can assure you that I will always walk in love and integrity. While I am not perfect, I will always seek to be a peacemaker and seek the high road.
As many of you have told me, I know that God has me in the palm of His hand. My confidence in God is stronger than everand I know that He is faithful to His promises.
Thank you for standing with me and, in spite of what youve heard, thank you for believing the best in me. I know that God causes all things to work together for our good and I truly believe that when faced with adversities we all emerge better and stronger than when we were before.
During this season, as we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, Joel and I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. May peace and happiness embrace all of us and may 2006 be your best year ever.
Victoria
whatever happened, they shouldn't have made the other passengers wait 2 hours while they got their luggage off the plane.
I see that we here will do everything to defend our scumbag celebrities, as the DUmmies would to defend their scumbag celebrities. 'Cept I didn't realize until now that some hustler on the motivational speaker circuit who cynically uses the Bible as his textbook, is one of ours. At least the DUmmies main squeeze Brbra can sing (or some would say so.)
Heaven forbid her majesty's heiny should encounter some moisture from the previous occupant's highball. Or...Good Lord...she should wipe it up herself! </good grief!>
Excuse me? One person delays a flight for two hours?? Who is she, the Queen?
That is way, way out of line. It's one hell of a long time for a "minor misunderstanding." People have places to go, things to do, people waiting on them at the other end and you delay the flight for two hours?
Such arrogance.
The fact that these people were on the way to Vail tells me that Mr. Osteen's church is proably one of those with a "closed for Christmas" sign outside.
Figures.
Is this "team" this generations Tammy Fae & Jim Baker Inc fleecing the sheep ?
Just a question....
Who'da thunk it...
It sounds like Continental Airlines, whose HQ is in Houston, is afraid to take on the Osteens and their huge Houston following for fear of a boycott or something.
Almost certainly a "CYA" statement. But ultimately, it is the responsibility of the members of the church to pray for discernment on what actually happened, and take whatever action or inaction is apropriate.
Outside the airline and her church, this story is gossip. it isn't news.
Sounds like money has gone to Victoria's head. A spill not cleaned up to 'her satisfaction' and in a first class cabin, to boot.
Maybe if we tune in tonight at 9:00 eastern on TBN we can listen to Joel and maybe he'll mention the incident....maybe we'll be enlightened....maybe we'll even get saved. :)
Merry Christmas to all!
I too would leave the aircraft if forced to sit on a blue stained seat, haha.
"Where's Willie? Is Monica aboard?"
Joel Osteen is a nationally known author of self-help books...
Say what? Couldn't he have done a little self help and gotten a towel to clean the seat to his satisfaction then?
Whatever went down on that plane, and barring the unlikely possibility that Mrs. Osteen was being asked to sit in life-threatening conditions, she apparently botched a splendid opportunity to model Christ-like humility to that 1C cabin. If she was being treated badly, and nothing more than pride was at stake, what might the witness have been to the surrounding passengers had she responded with grace and maybe "Bless you today"?
This situation is high profile enough that more details will emerge over time.
Negative-role model for Christians bump...
Negative-role model for Christians bump...
Ya know what?
If she did lose her cool so what?
She is a Human Being.
Not Jesus Christ.
Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.
We all blow it from time to time and not admitting our short comings is saying we are perfect and if that was the case we would all be Gods.
She would be more earnest in saying I over reacted or what ever the situation was that got her tossed off the flight.
How about I am sorry? What is wrong with admitting ones screw ups.
Kinda would make the whole Sacrificial Lamb event mute.
