Let us raise up a lofty tree, and put it on display,
Reminder to us all to let our eyes lift up today,
To gaze on Him who came to us to expiate our sins,
Even though among our hearts, He often finds no inns.
No room for Mary, great with child, or for her caring spouse?
While we move out all the furniture to bring a tree in house?
How soon have we forgotten, it’s His birthday that we fest,
What kind of party will it be, if He is not First Guest?
So place an angel at the top, to bring us all great joy,
Glad tidings to announce a birth, Hallelujah, It’s a Boy!
A future King to rule our hearts, and show us all the way.
Let’s keep the fine traditions that were started that first day.
Somewhere let’s have a manger, with an infant child to view,
And let the animals take their part, they have their role here too!
It isn’t that you have to fling your front door open wide,
But just a portion of your heart for Him to come inside.
So raise that tree! And as you do, lift up your hearts in song,
