Well, one thing is for sure.

If thy decide to go to war with the United States, they will have four allies operating in the United States; The Democrat Party, the alcu, Hollywood, and the mass media organizations.

And they already know that they rubbed President Jimmy Carter's nose in shit for over a year.

We also need to urge Iraq to get some much needed armor and field guns as well as helocopters and jets. The Iraqis are a long way from being able to repel a foreign army.

"Hopefully, we can find a way to do that without permanently damaging our souls in the process."
Who is "we" and what do you consider "our"?

How do you explain how we won the Cold War?
Do you "feel" it was the result of "peacetime" diplomacy? Or might the fact that eventually the USSR (now defunct)came to the correct conclusion that "we" would destroy them if they attempted to war with US.
I do not include you in the(we) personnally as part of US (our).
I refer to the actual people who swore voluntary oaths and prepared to war and die, if necessary, in the defense of US. And then promptly proceeded to do exactly that.
Then and now.

All that PC BS you were taught about anonymous warriors in uniform willing to "die to defend your God given rights to speak lies against them"?
That's total liberal/socialist spin, and obvious BS to any critical mind.

Every example of obviously stupid statements proving self-deluded ignorance often makes me regret my time in service.
It isn't ancient history.
Rant off.

This looks like the military scenario developed by a Hollywood scriptwriter. In Hollywood, if the script calls for it, then Arnold Stang can mop up the floor with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

First Iran acts provocatively.
Then the U.S. makes a half-hearted, militarily insignificant first strike.
Then Iran makes brilliant deployments to maximize its advantages.
Then the U.S. does even more predictable, stupid, and ineffective gambits.
Following which, Iran brilliantly outmaneuvers all our strategies, using the tactical advantage of Koranic superior knowledge.
Finally, the U.S. in rage and frustration, just gives up and sulks its way home.
And Iran wins the game, and gets kissed by the pretty girl ...

... No. -- Strike that last part.

I would give a different scenario. Iranian militants continue their anti Israel rhetoric and pursue nuclear weapons in a crash program. Israel attacks key Iranian targets and Iranian military forces in large numbers refuse an all out war. a popular uprising then overthrows the mullahs who are then hanged in the street.

The militarization of civilian posts described in the first few paragraphs may not be to fend off an attack from America. It may be preparation to fight a civil war that the Islamist's feel is inevitable.

Yep. The "war on America" stuff is to drum up some sort of internal support and it shows no sign of working. Ahmadinejad is going to the mat.

No, of course they could win- if they team up with their buddy Russia. Seriously, a handful of smart people, smoking pipes with leather patches on their suit elbows can dream up a way to take us out no prob. Just would ned a good plan. Al Qaeda, with 100,000 dollars, and a handful of simpletons managed to take down the twin towers. So a nation like Russia could take out the whole country if they were willing to be equally sneaky. First strike, at night, with Hillary in charge. Heck, I could do it.

"Israel attacks key Iranian targets"

I think you have the opening salvo correct. Israel will strike first. Let's hope there isn't a Democrat in the WH when this takes place. It would be a good time to attack Syria right after Israel drops the first nuke on Tehran.

"We also need to urge Iraq to get some much needed armor and field guns as well as helocopters and jets. The Iraqis are a long way from being able to repel a foreign army."

That's my mantra! Glad to see another rare individual who gets this.

I posted an old article by al Jazeera saying the US wasn't really arming the Iraqis cause we didn't trust them. I posted it, not because I trust their info, but because it was what I believed anyway.

I'd go slow on the jets for now and plan to keep a permanent US airbase. Keep some edge over the Iraqis, at least while we have troops in the country.

"a popular uprising then overthrows the mullahs who are then hanged in the street."

doable...but the US needs to play the key role. This is not something the Israelis can get done.

Let's hope the Israelis don't leave this to chance and constrict themselves to a 3 yr. timetable.

The most significant purges have affected the military high command.

Aaah, the old Stalinist tactic.

Didn't work so well for old Uncle Joe, but the Mad Mullah's of Iran are welcome to give it a go.

"Iranian rockets cannot reach American cities."

Today, this is true. Not in 5 years, though.

The US is also expected to shrink from attacks against the Mash'had bunker for fear of collateral damage to the "holy shrine" of the imam a few hundred yards away.

With precision guided Bunker Busters, it might as well be a few miles. If we want to hit the bunkers, we can do so while leaving the shrine alone, or not, as we choose.

Yes, interesting.

Hate to see this happen because there are many in Iran that do not go along with what is being proposed by their leaders.

We must defend ourselves against crack pots.

CIA’S GOSS REPORTEDLY WARNED ANKARA OF IRANIAN THREAT

During his recent visit to Ankara, CIA Director Porter Goss reportedly brought three dossiers on Iran to Ankara. Goss is said to have asked for Turkey’s support for Washington’s policy against Iran’s nuclear activities, charging that Tehran had supported terrorism and taken part in activities against Turkey. Goss also asked Ankara to be ready for a possible US air operation against Iran and Syria. Goss, who came to Ankara just after FBI Director Robert Mueller’s visit, brought up Iran’s alleged attempts to develop nuclear weapons. It was said that Goss first told Ankara that Iran has nuclear weapons and this situation was creating a huge threat for both Turkey and other states in the region. Diplomatic sources say that Washington wants Turkey to coordinate with its Iran policies. The second dossier is about Iran’s stance on terrorism. The CIA argued that Iran was supporting terrorism, the PKK and al-Qaeda. The third had to do with Iran’s alleged stance against Ankara. Goss said that Tehran sees Turkey as an enemy and would try to “export its regime.” /Cumhuriyet/

"Porter Goss reportedly brought three dossiers on Iran to Ankara"

Thanks, much. Goss is the top, as far as I'm concerned.
