"And further curtailing liberties will create it even faster. Oh, never mind, the Republicans are in control and they wouldn't do that..."

Opining that the sky is falling does not actually make the sky fall...similarly, opining that your civil liberties have been curtailed...your liberties...personally infringed...does not make it so.

I would have like to see it extended to the end of President Bush's term but this is OK.... and frankly I'm glad it's not permanent.

I also don't have a $500K paint job of a salmon on an airplane to promote Alaskan Salmon. Paid for by the taxpayers. He can take the bridge and the airplane and stick 'em where the midnight sun don't shine.

Yes, let's not make Stevens a hero. Sure he wants ANWR; however, his lifetime voting record is RINO.

I'm just up to my wits end with this party negotiating their majority status away and especially when the party is made up of mostly conservatives being hijacked by undercover DemoRAT agents and doing it for them.

It's not like I don't know the postmaster and the clerks or anything, it's just what they are required to do now by Homeland Security.

I've had people who have known me for 25 years ask me for my ID in the last few years. The WOT has made everyone follow the rule book exactly which is insane.

mail boxes etc.

Same criteria. Apparently, we are so afraid of our own shadows that the USPS reg's have filtered down to private businesses.

The ACLU and it's well meaning fellow travelers may bring about that day by limiting our intelligence capabilities.

That is their intent.....see this:

A Must Read:

Unholy Alliance :
Radical Islam and the American Left (Hardcover)
by David Horowitz

**************************************

Vastly Illuminating, September 25, 2004

Reviewer: Kat Bakhu (Albuquerque, NM United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I had long wondered why people on the Left had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit their throats than they do about their own country, which affords them more freedom and opportunity than anywhere else. David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly and convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and confused, I now feel crystal clear. Unholy Alliance is such a great book.

It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century, and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American attitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same impossible utopia.

Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once G.W. Bush implemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving components of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on individual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz covers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alliance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding.

This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoning clear. Horowitz is just that type of person! In the terrain of mindless clichés (no-blood-for-oil, etc.), he is a breath of real fresh air.

Is there any chance we can get rid of some RINOs within 6 months?

While my teeth also grind everytime the "RINOS" rear their ugly heads... I remind myself that the liberal states that they represent would NEVER elect a conservative Senator!

While "RINOS", they do allow the Republicans to "control" the Senate. Were they to run as anything other than Republicans, they would do far more damage overall!

I don't think he should be made a hero

I have disagreed with a number of things he wanted in the Senate

But he did NOT deserve to be treated as he was in the Senate over this ANWR and the things he was called

I can't board an airplane with my Swiss Army knife.

But you can fill your contact lens solution bottle with nitroglycerin though....

I'm all for ANWR; however, I don't like riders on defense appropriations bills.

I haven't seen any detail about what Stevens was called and by who. What happened??
