Look, I have little sympathy for these people. Hagel is disgusting. But it's pure politics, and the White House has exhibited several weaknesses. First, the WH is long reported to be weak in working with Congress as well as with the press. Second, until this month Bush has not been selling his program or calling out his opponents. This leads other republicans to waver for various reasons.

Maybe Bush will correct this, we'll see. No excuse for the Senators, but this is the way it works. You have to either put a carrot in front of them or a good steady kick to the rear.

Why would the President have to sell the Patriot Act?

The problem with some idiots (in Congress) is that they forgot about the Planes hitting the buildings.

I wish we had a DVD of the whole uncensored WTC 9-11 Day, and take it with a portable Player around to some offices in the Sam Rayburn building and make some Senators watch it, and bring Fox News with me to film their reactions.

People should watch that, every few months, just for drill, to keep their head right.

You know, this works both ways; and these fools have been stabbing Bush in the back since he took office. All because of THEIR agendas, i.e. Hagel running for president, for one.

as well as with the press.

Try not to insult our intelligence; Bush TRIED to work with the press; see how well that's worked out?

That's it. President Bush has to try working with the press. Yep, that's the ticket. After he does that, he has to start working with the President of Iran instead of trying to be difficult.

No. The WH nor the Pres should act as nanny to these four ditz's. They know what the right thing to do is. There's something else going on that we are not privy to. But on the surface - I say dang them to heck. They are toying with my children's security and future. Unforgivable.

I favor the kick to the rear. We have pretty clear evidence carrots don't work. They only want more. Brings to mind: Give them an inch and they take a mile.
