There was a vote in the House on Friday. The vote was on H Res 612 "Expressing the commitment of the House of Representatives to achieving victory in Iraq." Believe it or not, 108 Democrats voted no. Think about it, 108 Democrats are now on record as opposing victory in Iraq. There's your "loyal" opposition.

The Dems got caught in a Rope-A-Dope. Will there be any consequences for this defeatism?

Here's the link to HR612:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d109:h.res.00612:

What the dems will pretend to have objected to is.
"(6) setting an artificial timetable for the withdrawal
of United States Armed Forces from Iraq, or immediately
terminating their deployment in Iraq and redeploying
them elsewhere in the region, is fundamentally
inconsistent with achieving victory in Iraq;"

It's getting harder for dems to pretend they don't
advocate defeat.

Pretty sick. The Democrats would sacrifice freedom and liberty for the people of Iraq, and the sacrifices made my the US towards that end, just to make President Bush look bad.

Pathetic, petty, vile people.

Thanks for the extra links. The lines are being drawn more starkly now. Bush is calling the Iraq operation "mine" in his speeches, as he is positioning to take credit for the coming victory. Some Dems have fallen into this trap with their "Bush's War" diatribes.

Around half the Dems have moved themselves into the defeat camp. They will attempt to paint any outcome as a defeat. This will backfire on them, and the blow-back will be huge, unless there is a unmitigated defeat in the offing. I certainly don't see that, as the enemy has yet to win even a platoon level engagement.

Yeah, this is bad and everything, and makes the Democrats look pretty stupid, but...

What the heck is with the propensity to create do-nothing resolutions?

Why do we need to be paying our Representatives to be coming up with cool-sounding, but otherwise worthless resolutions like: "We really think we should win the war in Iraq!". And???

It's not just at the Federal level either. We've got city councils coming up with retarded resolutions: "The war on Iraq is bad!"

Don't they have anything else to do? Aren't there some potholes that need fixing?

I fully expect to hear from the floor in the near future:

On the flip-side, we have insane riders being attached to completely unrelated bills.

I think something should be done about this insanity. ...and I'd like my car washed every Thursday at taxpayer expense.

No not just make Bush look bad. In order for the Democrats to regain power, they need this Republican administration to be viewed as a complete failure. The Dems are betting everything on making sure this war in not a success. They don't care about how many soldiers die, each soldiers death is a small victory for them, each car bombing brings them a little bit closer to regaining the power they once enjoyed, and each successful Iraqi vote and each new Iraqi schoolhouse built is a roadblock on the path to their goal.

The Democratic party would sacrifice anything to regain it's power. There is no low that they would not sink to to acheive their goal.
