Guys, calm down. This is what Germany understands as Justice. Killers are usually released after 15-18 years imprisonment, so there´s really not much behind the story other than that the victim was an American. The German government had no influence on this, nor was the release of the German hostage in Iraq an issue here.

The problem is that many of us have bitter memories of the Munich terrorists being released after a hijacking, mere months after they butchered the Israeli athletes. The precedent is there, so the incident does arouse suspicion.

Well, if this had nothing to do with the release of the German hostage, that is good, but releasing a terrorist murderer at all is still morally distasteful. He might head back to Lebanon to a hero's welcome from all his terrorist friends. Maybe he will engage in terrorist operations again. Who knows?

Oh, good. At least they get the chance to get revenge on the people who put them in prison. Commit a murder at 20, out by 38, wipe out everyone who's annoyed you over the years, out again by 56 to enjoy your retirement years. Lovely.

I'm not accusing them of collusion... but they just let a terrorist back into the general world population.. known terrorist = valid target... time for a surgical strike.

I actually agree with you, however the timing is exremely unfortunate, and not just because it will upset many Americans, but because it will encourage many terrorists. Many of them are Arabs, and it is common in the Arab culture to try to take some victory out of any situation. They will make the connection, whether or not there is one, and this could endanger more people.

Quite frankly, this is precisely why Americans would do well to avoid traveling to Thrid World sh!t-holes where standards of justice can be loose and (by definition) your right to keep and bear arms for self-protection is compromised.

This issue has come up a number of times in the past, most recently (I think) with regard to the PLO terrorists who seized the Achille Lauro and dumped Leon Klinghoffer overboard. The biggest problem the U.S. faces in cases like this is that these incidents usually occur outside the legal jurisdiction of the U.S., and as such our government has very limited recourse in seeking justice.

I believe the cause of the consternation is exactly that this is what Germany understands as Justice.

Then the mentally retarded have a higher level of understanding than Germany.

And don't tell us to calm down.

I see you are over here now defending the cowardly Germans. We are commenting on precisely your point - that Germany considers this justice. We don't. And we think they are wrong.

Not much behind the story? Releasing terrorist murdering hijackers? Is this common in Germany? How many have they got?

Note that just because Germany trades prisoners for hostages won't change our opinion that:

1.) Germany is following close on the heels of France and Spain in the weasel parade.
2.) We should finish the job the Germans are too weak to do.

In other words, it is sad Germany is so weak, and German weakness should not influence our actions.

Since you are such a good hearted guy - how about you sign up to take responsibility for any future terrorist activities of this piece of human garbage. Can we put your name down? You want to take responsibility for him? How about Frau Merkel?

Put up or shut up.

I suspect you also believe in the tooth fairy, too.....

I'm an unapologetic cynic, and I see this as a snatch of a German citizen to ASSURE the earliest possible release of a murderous Jihadist -- or Germany simply attempting to show their cooperation with their fellow Jew Hating Muslim sand Nazis..

This was NOT a serendipitous coincidence.
