Boxer Impeachment Letter
Boxer senator online ^ | 12/19/2005 | Barbara Boxer

Posted on 12/19/2005 6:48:51 PM PST by stocksthatgoup

Boxer’s letter is as follows:

On December 16, along with the rest of America, I learned that President Bush authorized the National Security Agency to spy on Americans without getting a warrant from a judge. President Bush underscored his support for this action in his press conference today.

On Sunday, December 18, former White House Counsel John Dean and I participated in a public discussion that covered many issues, including this surveillance. Mr. Dean, who was President Nixon’s counsel at the time of Watergate, said that President Bush is “the first President to admit to an impeachable offense.” Today, Mr. Dean confirmed his statement.

This startling assertion by Mr. Dean is especially poignant because he experienced first hand the executive abuse of power and a presidential scandal arising from the surveillance of American citizens.

Given your constitutional expertise, particularly in the area of presidential impeachment, I am writing to ask for your comments and thoughts on Mr. Dean’s statement.

Unchecked surveillance of American citizens is troubling to both me and many of my constituents. I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

Do they really hate President Bush that much, that they would impeach him and put Cheney in office?? BTW, if that does happen, will Helen Thomas still kill herself?

why wait a few days. James Risen is releasing more book excerpts tomorrow:

Now why does this remind me of when Richard Clark published his book .. right before his hearing with the 9/11 Commission

THIS ALL SMELLS

Well, its been since Friday.
Surprising it took four days.
Bush knew this was coming, thats why he was on TV last night and the presser today.

What troubles me is that Boxer and Reid are TRAITORS giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the American people.

They should be in jail along with all the other traitors and spies for the Islamic Terrorist.

Yeah, they realized they weren't getting anywhere with the CIA leak and Valerie Plame case, so they are leaked the information about the NSA to spite Bush and give them something to push for, the doomed to fail crucifixion of Bush.

While the possibility that the Executive Branch might be ignoring the Fourth Amendment is indeed disturbing, the proper remedy in this instance would be to obtain a court injunction halting such intercepts, and to disallow any evidence so garnered to be used in a court of law (as is routine when evidence is obtained through illegal searches in criminal cases). Calling for the President's impeachment seems a little extreme.

Interesting take. Particularly in that it recognizes the Fourth Amendment applies specifically to criminal cases -- but has no apparent application to wartime intelligence gathering.

Wouldn't you just love to see the Democrats go to court, seeking an injunction that would make "that mean Mr. Bush stop spying on our friends in al-Qaeda"?

Boxer's impeachment sounds like a good idea to me.

Save it for the psycho ward, Babs.

Note to those who aren't left wing democrat nuts: Get out of their way so they won't run you over when driving themselves over the cliff. They've got dogged determination to be rid of themselves, ya know.

Thank God for that!
