The ‘War on Christmas’ Is the Good Fight
The National Ledger ^ | 12/19/2005 | Chris Davis

The ‘War on Christmas’ is a good fight, a war worth waging for America’s values. It isn’t just a failure of the left to recognize the values of mainstream Americans, but it is an attack on Christianity, a battle being waged in the courts of the nation, increasing in intensity the last fifty years. This liberal battle, fought in legal circles, terrorizes city and state governments, American businesses and the American people with fear of litigation. In their righteous indignation, liberals have likened themselves to terrorists, terrorizing Christianity at every turn.

Now is the time for Americans to take back our traditions, our patriotism and our Christmas. Now is the time to fight the ‘War on Christmas.’ Now is the time to fight the good fight, securing those traditions of Christ for ourselves and our posterity. And now is the time for conservative Americans to stand up in confrontation of those that would promote a secular agenda, screaming in outrage: “We will not take this any longer!”

These conservative Americans have waged this war for fifty years, never tiring and faltering. They have, in their inexhaustible efforts, cherished the sacred traditions passed down by the Founding Fathers from father to son and mother to daughter. In utter amazement, they have taken blow after blow in defense of the Constitution and Christianity, a religion upon which the Founding Fathers claimed as the bedrock of their principles.

These fine Americans are represented by men like Rush Limbaugh, David Limbaugh, Tony Snow, and Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX, who wrote in Human Events: “Public expression of faith—one of the very freedoms most cherished by our Founding Fathers—should not be allowed to fall victim to a pervasive misunderstanding of the First Amendment perpetuated by a handful of secularists and judicial activists. In particular, during this time of religious celebration for so many Americans, we should remember that we should, by right, be free to exercise our religious beliefs openly and to celebrate collectively those beliefs as we choose.”

They are represented by women like Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, and Secretary Condoleeza Rice, passing on the Christian principles of morality and fighting the ‘War on Christmas’ to preserve our American traditions and celebrate the Christmas season, echoing the principles handed to them by their mothers.

They are represented by forums like Free Republic, websites like The National Ledger, The American Spectator, and by blogs like the American Thinker, fighting the battle against the mainstream media and its hypocritical oath.

These women battle ardently against the people of the San Francisco Chronicle, writing an editorial, The fabricated war on Christmas, December 18, 2005, stating, “The idea that there is a ‘war on Christmas’ is just absurd. To the Christians who are howling the loudest for a public showdown, we remind you that the religious significance of the holiday is not defined by mass-produced Hallmark sentiments or by store displays in a shopping mall, but by what individuals do in their homes and churches.”

These men and women do all that America asks, embodying the values that the majority of mainstream Americans treasure. These mainstream Americans are the conservative men and women that celebrate Christmas. They celebrate Christmas, because it is those principles that were handed down to them, and in that tradition they keep America a thriving nation and a Christian nation, giving it real meaning.

Christmas isn’t just a holiday. It’s about celebrating the birth of Christ, the reason that these conservative men and women gather with families, give gifts to loved ones and go to church. It is all a celebration of values, morality and miracles. In this season, saying the words, “Merry Christmas,” means much more than a mere utterance of those words. Telling one another “Merry Christmas” is the same as saying, “May God bless you and keep you.” It is the same as saying, “Happy Birthday, Jesus.” And it is the same as bestowing good wishes, or a benediction to one another for the Christmas season. With the words, “Happy Holidays,” it leaves out the most important part of Christmas: Christ, which in the end, is what the secularists long to happen.

So, conservatives keep waging war in defense of a sacred season for all mankind. They wage war in remembrance of Benjamin Franklin, who said at the Constitutional Convention in 1787, “God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel.”

They continue the fight for Christmas, remembering the words of Alexander Hamilton, “For my own part, I sincerely esteem it (the Constitution) a system which without the finger of God, never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests,” and in the words of Patrick Henry, “It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”

As conservatives travel to their liberal relative’s house this Christmas, they’ll remember the words of Charles Carroll, “Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure...are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.”

While conservatives argue with liberals about the First Amendment, they’ll remember the words of John Jay in 1816, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers,” and the words of James Madison, “We’ve staked our future on our ability to follow the Ten Commandments with all of our heart.”

They’ll also retort the words of Thomas Jefferson, arguing Christianity and the Founding Fathers with their liberal relatives: “God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath?”

Conservatives will suffer the righteous indignation of their liberal hosts, imbuing on them more words from James Madison, “It is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forbearance, love, and charity toward each other,” and the words of George Washington at Valley Forge, “To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.”

Conservatives fight and have fought the good fight, knowing that Christmas is one of the most important representations of the Christian religion. In their solemn duty, they follow the words of Noah Webster, “The duties of men are summarily comprised in the Ten Commandments, consisting of two tables; one comprehending the duties which we owe immediately to God-the other, the duties we owe to our fellow men,” and in that solemn duty they wage war against liberals that wish to remove Christianity from the public square.

The ‘War on Christmas’ is a war worth waging. It is a war that will bring back the finest of traditions, morality and excrete all those that oppose America and its founding. The ‘War on Christmas’ will insure that all Americans can worship accordingly as promised by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

So, to all Americans, may God bless them and keep them and may perpetual light shine upon them during this season, during the birth of Christ. In short, Merry Christmas America.

In other words "take it inside or we'll feed you to the Lions".

Well maybe not the Lions, they can't beat anybody. Perhaps the Bengals, then.
