This poll is referred to on the C-Span organization.
Do you agree with President Bush's decision allowing domestic surveillance without court order?
We're losing 76%-24% as the lib C-span voters pile on.
too many liberals on C-SPAN ?
They should ask, Did you agree with President Clinton when he did the same thing?
Do you agree with President Bush's decision allowing domestic surveillance without court order?
I've heard this too. Is there somewhere you can cite that I can push to my liberal friends?

The Clinton administration announced July 17 that it would seek broad powers to compel Internet Service Providers to allow FBI monitoring of email messages, using a powerful software package devised by the police agency and given the ominous title of Carnivore.

'Roving' Wiretaps, Secret Court Orders
Used to Hunt Suspects
By Vernon Loeb
Washington Post Staff Writer

As President Clinton proposes massive funding increases for
counterterrorism, federal law enforcement agencies have already
received substantial new legal authority to fight suspected
terrorists with "roving" wiretaps and secret court orders for
tracing telephone calls and obtaining business records.

"I was advised of President Bush's decision to provide authority to the National Security Agency to conduct unspecified activities shortly after he made it and have been provided with updates on several occasions,"

Clinton NSA Eavesdropped on U.S. Calls
But in fact, the NSA had been monitoring private domestic telephone conversations on a much larger scale throughout the 1990s - all of it done without a court order, let alone a catalyst like the 9/11 attacks.
In February 2000, for instance, CBS "60 Minutes" correspondent Steve Kroft introduced a report on the Clinton-era spy program by noting:
If you made a phone call today or sent an e-mail to a friend, there's a good chance what you said or wrote was captured and screened by the country's largest intelligence agency. The top-secret Global Surveillance Network is called Echelon, and it's run by the National Security Agency."
Perhaps you should have read the press conference where he states the reasons, the extent of the collection effort, and the parameters (only foreign communications, links to al queda, etc.)
and there are several places where you can find the legal basis in the FSIA act and the legislateive authority given by Congress after 9/11. Try captains quarters blog.
I don't.
Power Corrupts. Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely.
What did Thomas Jefforson say about trading freedom for security....
This conservative says no.
Ah....so there are reasons the President is trampling the constitution?
That makes it all better.
These taps are terrorist realted calls. Get a clue.
If I was going to vote I'd vote "no". But I don't want to vote against Bush (no need to pile on) so I'll skip it.
These taps are terrorist realted calls. Get a clue.
The people who are worried about this are people who aren't living right.
I don't understand how the CIA monitoring al queda survallience overseas and listening in to the phone calls wherever they go trampels your rights.
There are far worse things in this country than this. This program does not allow monitoring domestic to domestic calls. If you are communicating with al queda suspects overseas then you are our enemy and have no rights.
62% No
37% Yes
Keep Freeping!
How about this poll question: "Do you believe a president of the United States should use the Internal Revenue Service as an agency to attack and destroy other Americans for political purposes?"
