So...what HAVE you learned in the last 25 years?
I learned the same thing I learned the 25 years before the last 25 years: I wasn't nearly as smart as I thought I was at the beginning of the last 25 years. The smarter I get the dumber I discover I am.
"Merry Christmas." You say, Oh, a trouble maker, huh?
Me too, Merry Christmas, everyone!
Don't ask for help or complain until you have tried to fix it yourself.
Don't expect anyone to help you get up when you fall.
Always be honest with yourself and your family.
Marry a woman who is smarter than you are and you'll always be proud of her and your children.
Make friends with older people and ask for their advice
about everything.
Keep your ego in your pocket not on your shoulder.
Smile when you look in the mirror.
Laugh as often as possible.
Believe your gut feelings about dangerous situations.
Don't hesitate to step back and take a second look.
Have a plan for everything and continually update it.
Know how to live without electricity and you'll survive the storms with ease.
Convince others that you are much tougher than you actually are and you won't ever have to be mean to them.
Life can always be tougher, so quit bitching.
Remember to say Thank you and excuse me.
Freeping is addictive.
Frepers agree that Bill & Hillary make good presidents.
1. Life happens while you're "fixin" to live it
2. In the words of the old German man "Too late smart I get"!
guns and tattoos are the most addictive habits on the planet...
Eskimo sounds good to me :)..which leads me to 'blubber" it tastes like sh%t also, polar bears smell and igloos are cold. Guess that about covers it.
There are still a lot of communists in the world.
I have also learned that when he wants to, George Lucas can make a helluva movie; that Christian music is every bit as good as "pop" music; that the "heavy metal" players can PLAY---but can't write a melody; that I can write prety well; that I'm no genius with money; and that there are some incredibly brave people out there, many of them my students or former students who fight to protect us.
I've learned that even when you raise taxes, as Clinton did, it doesn't automatically cause a recession if bigger "macro" factors are at work; that the Fed can squelch economic growth pretty easily; and that most people opposed to illegals are not racists.
I've learned that Lincoln was more of a genius than I ever dreamed, and even then, he still only stands on the shoulders of Washington, Hamilton, Adam, Jefferson, and Franklin.
I've learned that there was never, ever, an administration of "small government," and that government grew absolutely and relatively even under people like Jefferson and Jackson and that even then it apparently didn't seriously damage the country.
I've learned that the Libertarian Right who never found a war they support are as dangerous to our liberty and security as the traitorous Leftists like Kennedy, Murtha, and Durbin.
And I've learned that the Dallas Cowboys of 1991-1994 were far more special than I ever dreamed at the time, and that we may never see a team like that one again due to free agency.
D'oh! You're right. I'd plead sleep deprivation, but I'm just naturally this dense.
That list would be FAR to long. I would crash the Free Republic Server. Might even cause the whole 'net to go down. :-)
Ah, I can indeed relate to that. I think my list would do the same...and likely in half the time! ;o)
"no matter how good looking a woman is, she's going to get old."
Have you also learned the same about yourself? :)
I think I'd vote for yours as the best advice on the thread.
I missed something in that one...?
I'm a jerk, but I learned that more than 25 years ago. |
I woke up to find some wonderful advice on this thread.
I've learned that FReepers are brilliant!!!
:-)
That you're growing older at the same rate as good looking women are. ;-D
