The actor also criticizes Black History Month, saying setting aside a special month actually segregates black history from American history. Calling the idea "ridiculous," Freeman notes there's no "white history month."
"You're going to relegate my history to a month?" Freeman asks Wallace. "I don't want a black history month. Black history is American history," he says.
He makes perfect sense.

Morgan Freeman has a solution to the problem of racism "Stop talking about it!" That can't happen, what will Jesse Jackson and Calypso Louis Farrakhan do for a living?

With all due respect on this count, I think it took brass huevos to say this and the man is precisely right.
I salute him for saying it.

He's one of my favorite actors. He's making a lot of sense here but he's going to upset his rice bowl if he's not careful.

He usually does. In a period when middle class blacks affect ghetto speak, he took diction lessons and came up with a voice one which, like Richard Burton's is melodious and useful for a range of parts while remaining uniquely his.

You tell 'em, Mr. Freeman!
(He's a great actor - loved him in Shawshank Redemption and others - but of all his work, "E-Z Reader" on the Electric Company will forever be a favorite role for those of us old enough to remember... "Out-a-sighteous!")
To: wagglebee
He makes sense, yet at the same time, I don't think it's such a bad idea to have some reference to ethnic contributions to history. A very good and entertaining book is How the Irish Saved Civilization, about how the Irish were instrumental in saving many important texts in medieval times which now help us understand our heritage (RIP). But a book or two is sufficient, not a whole month, year after year.

This just further proves that the balance is tipping against Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, et al, as African Americans such as Bill Cosby and Morgan Freeman begin to speak some common sense.

This is great, an actor that I like speaking the truth about something important and making complete sense.
Where is the Cuban history month? The Mexican history month? The French history month, never mind that is only full of surrenders.

I also liked him as the principal in "Lean On Me."

I always wondered if Mr. Freeman was another Hollywood liberal or not. If there where more actors with some brains and common sense, I could enjoy going to see some movies again.

You wouldn't say, 'Well, I know this white guy named Mike Wallace.' You know what I'm saying?" Took ya long enough to see reality bro but nice to see you finally came around.
