As I recall, when the facts of the case were known, the polling done on Terri Schiavo was in favor of intervention. When the truth is known, the majority of Americans do stand on the right side.
I think these writers have it all wrong. Look at the backlash those who would bury Christmas are getting.
It's the Senate that gets low marks for holding the country hostage to their politics and lost moral compasses.

You've got that right. As usual, the socialist MSM has it all wrong again.

This articloe comes from the Saint Pete times, the most liberal biased rag in Florida.
Take with a grain of salt any thing read in this newspaper, they lie.

We now have a clue about possible campaign strategy for the Dems next year. If they focus group it they will read from a script and hope it sticks on Republicans.

It's the Senate that gets low marks for holding the country hostage to their politics and lost moral compasses. Exactly right. We know better about such things in these parts. A lot of the country also knows better. But inside the Beltway, the Stupid Party reads this type of article and dives for cover under the nearest RAT skirt.

My tag line is all I have to say, re: the notion that social conservatives were/are (somehow) "wrong" to insist upon principled observance of the core precepts of social conservatism by the (purportedly) "conservative" Senators and Representatives who -- without OUR donations, and OUR votes -- wouldn't be lolling about in D.C. to criticize us in the first place.

Whether this article is all wrong, partially wrong, or 100% right, there is one thing that is certain.
The Schiavo issue is one that divided millions, and hurt only Republicans.

This article may be wishful thinking on the part of the writers, however Terri's case was never really about politics. However, if there is some truth in this article, then so be it for the Republicans who stood for life. Many have been "crucified" for righteousness' sake.

"The wish list for the Christian right has been swept away." While the authors do indeed have most of it wrong, they are on to something with the above quote. However, there should be a little correction - "The wish list for the Christian right has been swept given away."

The editorial comments in this article are too numerous to count.
the Bush administration's bungled response to Hurricane Katrina all have played roles, analysts and lawmakers say.
General Russel L. Honore would say, "This entire article is just B.S."

I have mixed feelings on the Schiavo ordeal. If the results of
this FR poll - with the poll question worded the way that it is - is any indication of the influence that the evangelicals have on the GOP, then count me as "not on board" with it. Any FReeper should be weighing the issues of morality with the issues of freedom: if this weighting was given proper consideration by the 50+ % who voted then I will disassociate with them at the earliest political convenience. The majority sentiment expressed in that poll is, in my opinion, terribly short-sighted.

How could they let her die? The writer of this fairy tale misses one important point -there is a difference between permitting death and procuring death. Terri was not allowed to die -she was murdered -starved and dehydrated to death...
