SoldiersPrayingMom just phoned me in tears to report that Sgt. Greg Parkinson (jmpmstr4u2) had been injured in the explosion of an improvised explosive device.
The Department of Defense called Greg's wife, Tammy, to inform her of the injury just after midnight California Time. They told her that he had been evacuated to a field hospital, that he had all of his limbs, but that he has injuries in his left arm and back.
SoldiersPrayingMom requests all Freepers to pray for healing and complete recovery. Pray for his Mom and Dad, Ruth (SoldiersPrayingMom) and Jim Parkinson, Greg's wife, Tammy, and his two daughters who face uncertainties and fear for his condition. Greg and his family need all of your prayers and support.

Dear God, we come to You this morning asking for Your healing hands to be placed on Greg. You know his injuries and You know what he needs. We also know that You can heal him before he sees another doctor. We ask this of You, God. We ask that You grant Greg complete restoration of his arm and back, that he may live a life without any immobility or pain. We ask that You comfort his wife and family who are so upset at this news and can't be at Greg's side. Lord, we also thank You during this fourth Sunday in Advent for the miracle birth that is Your Son and ask this in His name. Amen.

O most Holy Virgin, who was pleasing to the Lord and became His mother, immaculate in body and spirit, in faith and in love, look kindly on me as I implore your powerful intercession. O most Holy Mother, who by your blessed Immaculate Conception, from the first moment of your conception did crush the head of the enemy, receive our prayers as we implore you to present at the throne of God the favor we now request healing for America's son.
O Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Mother of Christ, you had influence with your Divine Son while upon this earth; you have the same influence now in heaven. Pray for us and obtain for us from him the granting of my petition if it be the Divine Will.

There is a God in Heaven who watches over the affairs of man, and our faith in Him and prayers to Him can sometimes work miracles within His will. Some of us believe that with all of our hearts, in addition to the great work those doctors will perform.
This nation was founded, and has been preserved as a result of such faith and practicality. The two go hand in hand. I pray they always shall...and offer my own prayers and faith on behalf of Sgt. Jim Parkinson.
May the good Lord watch over and protect him and guide the hands of the surgeons who will be tasked with his care. May that guidance be abundant and obvious so that they witness of God's help in his recovery...and may his family, loved ones, and friends be comforted and guided through the entire affair.
My nephew is a Marine who was injured in a very similar fashion and is now doing remarkably well and can't wait to get back to his unit. Greg will be up and at 'em again before they know it.
